I wish someone could explain to me why it is our responsibility to pay for the reconstruction of Iraq. I listened to Tony Snow trying to make the case last week, and it was pathetic. He said things like "it's the right thing to do", "if we don't do it, who will" and finally, "we will make it back in business from the new Iraq because who else are they going to trade with?" Uh, Tony, ever hear of the French, Germ,ans , Russians and Japanese? I'm not opposed to having troops there, and of course that requires lots of money. I'm talking about these grandiose plans to rebuild the country. Let them borrow the money against oil revenues, just like they did when saddam was running things.
