AAPL - Tim Cook - Not very innovative

Discussion in 'Stocks' started by kmiklas, Sep 6, 2016.

  1. Apple wont go anywhere, its a mammoth. However, the iphone business is saturated, by apple itself, company will do fine but, and here is the key for investors, its crazy growth days are certainly over.

Today cook mentions the new design of the iPhone 7....let's get it straight there hasn't been a major overhaul in the iPhone design in 3 years, this guy tries to upsell at every second he was up there on stage today....again the smartphone market is completely saturated with zero innovation.... What is so game changing about a higher MP camera and faster processor, this is already old news when it comes to the advancement of technology. It's call Moore's Law....

    Zero innovation....

    Exactly

I have been saying this for years in the smartphone Industry... They make you believe there is innovation when it doesn't exist, its pathetic that with hundreds of billions of dollars the best they can do is a faster processor, upgraded camera and some new colors like piano black haha, ooohhhhh, watch out.

    Yeah... what innovation?

A better camera? Come on, that's not innovation but merely progress... every new phone model has a better cam.
And then what... the wireless ear pieces? That's not innovation, I'm wearing wireless earphones all the time... at least mine won't get lost since they're not tiny.

They've been copying apps and features from android phones for years... but Apple fans won't notice that, because they only look for Apple.

They have to really innovate soon, because a whale like that can get burned quicker than you would think when Apple fans realize they can hold on to their old phone with the same features for another year and save serious $$$'s.

Apple Watch was an attempt to innovate, but they lagged others and... who really wears it? I've never seen anyone wear one!

Even Cook himself looks like a copycat with his grey hair, jeans and casual sneakers.... he can't even innovate himself!!! Get a freakin' stylist mate!

    - Rant off... for now ;) -

Lack of innovation is fine but that means prices have to come down and I haven't seen that. Meanwhile you can get an equivalent (I'd actually say better) Chinese Android phone for a quarter of the price. Also, the buttons on Chinese phones won't fail after a year like they did on many iPhone models.
But hey, people are willing to burn money, Apple is smart in taking it as long as they can.

And Apple made money on it because Tim Cook was a genius at managing the supply chain. You know Apple (a retail store) has negative working capital! In their last filing they only had 2bn in inventories against 210bn in sales.

Further Apple has a grip on its supply chain unlike any other company which has allowed them them innovate and commercialize jobs products.

Cook may not have the vision of Jobs but he is the reason Apple grew to be what it is today.
