Is that it? Oh and you may be right...luckily that doesnt have anything to do with aaples stock performance.
Why will Apple stock drop when Jobs leaves? Because he is irreplaceable. People like Jobs do not make it up the corporate ladder. His replacement will not be a valley legend, able to get his way, and be right about it. Jobs has vision and does not compromise in trying to realize it. And he makes good calls. Look at how well Apple did when corporate wanksters were running it. Apple brought him back to turn the company around and he did. Why isn't Apple going up on earnings for years, etc? Because the market is done. Grab a fork. Read a chart. If you think that Apple is going to decouple from the rest of the tech sector and levitate while they all tank, go pull up some charts from 2001 or something. The economy sucks and it will be getting worse. Who is going to be buying an expensive mac book or iphone in 18 months? Many fewer than now for sure. There are your answers. The other guy knew all that but did not tell you because your attitude was poor. If you do not adjust your attitude, the market will adjust it for you, and it will be expensive. The market does not owe you anything. It did not move "your" cheese. You have to approach it on its terms, not your own. Sector tanking? Have a good cry, then short something, sell a call, buy an inverse ETF, try a different sector, get a paper route, whatever. This is not metafilter, or slashdot, or debate club, where you pick a random side, run your mouth, and then "win" and everyone claps, or not. When you are putting your money where your mouth is, empty talk loses its allure.
I cant deny anything you said. Its all true, and very good advice. I'm not quite sure why you chose to place it here though. I'm not sure why you think that I think that market "owes" me something, I'm not that stupid. Right now Im not even trading real money..i had my fake money in puts today...even though i didnt think apple was going to fall as far as it did. Apple always falls on earnings b/c of lower guidance...but you're right this was due to the sector tanking, and if the sector continues to do so, apple will too. I also never said job's leaving wouldn't adversely affect the stock. I said, long term I wouldnt care. Job's comes to Apple, revives it and apple is turned into the amazing company it is today. Sounds like job's is a smart man...smart enough to maybe put time and money into training, education, grooming, teaching other people to do whatever it is that he does. Apple is his darling (which is why he came back) and I doubt he's going to make the same mistake twice. I think people will continue to buy iphones, simply b/c they are cheap. Yea thats right, cheap. You can now have the one of the trendiest gadgets around for half the price...kids love it. its kind of like if lambo's were suddenly 50k, how many people would go out right now and buy them? A lot. Of course if the economy goes way down the crapper great depression style, then yes, I will be the first person buying puts on tech stocks. I don't know whats going to happen to the economy, it's kind of like the wildcard that trumps all fundi's...but hey we do what we can right? These are my opinions. The market doesn't owe me anything, but remember despite how long you may have been playing this game, it doesn't owe you anything either.
"The response to the Apple Computer (AAPL) earnings was just like the Bill Murray movie Groundhog Day. It seems that every time AAPL reports the company beats analystsâ consensus estimates, guides to lower expectations for the next quarter, and then trades lower. Then once again the next quarter we hit the replay button and the same happens all over again.Apple's Quarterly Groundhog Day" Latest news: http://stockshoot.com/content/view/472/
Guess all the problems are behind us now, silly APPL management warning of a poor second half and falling margins. Thank goodness investors know better. And yes, I am bitter about leaving $10 on the table on the trade
Dude you crack me up, you didn't mnake a dime off the move but you are happy as a lark, I made $1500 and feel like crap about it. Welcome to the wierd and wonderful world of trading and ET
