  1. Last Pick for the week

    Det at Chi

Cur Line Chi -6.5 (org -7)

    Pick: Chi

Comment: I typically hate favorites at -7 and above. Football is very random, 1 play can equate to 7 points. Its not like the NBA or NCAA where randomness equates to 3 points of a high scoring affair. That being said I have the bears at -15 for this game and now that the line(matchbook) has gone below 7 I am putting this one on the board. Marx never lets off the gas pedal, the bears go up by 21 he has no problem pushing it 42(see his old Rams teams)

The problem is Cutler may be sacked 4 times before the Bears can score. The OL is terrible and possibly worse than last year.

I like the Lions +6.5 and I'm long time Bears fan from Chi-Town

  3. Just curious - where do these lines come from?

Canadian bookies are favoring NO tonight by anywhere from 4.5-6 pts as of September 9, 2010.

In any case - we might as well use the lines posted by AAAintheBeltway for the purposes of this thread so we're all on the same page.

For tonight's game I'm going to take MIN ATS, even though I think NO will win straight up. I'm predicting a close game, possibly a last minute field goal to end it. Historically MIN has had NO's number ATS (7-2).

  5. Hello

    Hello

Yeah i had mentioned it earlier too, the lines are all over the place, from site to site, and with bookies right now.

Just for fun, ill take MIN, but its not a game i would lay money on, so im not including it in my picks. Too many unknowns in this game. Will Favre come out rusty or hot, will New Orleans come out hot off their superbowl win or with a superbowl hangover. If the guys on minnesotas o-line want to prove they got favres back for coming back for one last season, tonight is the night. No matter who wins this should be one of the more interesting games of the season i would think. With that said go vikes!!! :)

  6. Go VIKES! Vikes D needs to get pressure on and hold their water in the backfield....Vikes offense needs good ball control game with a few big strike shots (to Harvin!!!). If AP can get traction early that would be a HUGE help for the Vikes! I would say the Vikes are definitely underdogs in this game, but I will take the Brett "pants on the ground" Favre lead Vikes by +4!

    :D  :D

  7. Hello

    Hello

AP is going to have to be the difference in this game, if the vikes are going to win, i know that is usually the case, but i would think tonight more so than ever he is the deal breaker with this game, if they are forced to rely on favre i think they are screwed, i just cant see him being 100% yet, he was still walking a little gingerly on that ankle when he got out of the SUV after arriving in Minnesota.

The good news for the vikings, is that AP is typically a hot starter, he has rushed for over 100 yards in all three season openers he has played in.

The vikings must know with a 41 year old QB, and their buy in week 4 that they absolutely need to have a first round buy in order to have a legit shot at a superbowl. With Greenbay in their division that essentially means every single game is a must win for them.

I like good stories so im on the favre bandwagon, the only reason i wasnt cheering for Kurt warrener 3 years ago was because he was playing my steelers. I said before that game to all my friends though that if anyone had to do it, i would like it to be him.

  8. Hello

    Hello

what a half of football, i thought when favre tossed that interception up as he was going down, it would be game over, it would have been so deflating if the saints marched in for a TD, then hartley misses the fieldgoal, and vikings march down field for a TD only to see the extra point get blocked....

    God bless the NFL

    :)

  10. Hello

    Hello

That game leaves all kinds of question marks, Favre will be missing a "Lob it up and he will catch anything" Fitzgerald type reciever for the start of the season in sidney rice, anyone cheering for the vikes can only be left wondering after that game. I think favre needs a guy he can lob it up to in order to have the numbers he had last season, without that it could be a tough year. The vikes held their own somewhat, but apart from 2 passes to shiancoe, there really was no passing offense from the vikes.

Funny that the 4.5 point spread came down to a missed extra point. If longwell hits you make the spread, he missed and we miss the spread..... Footballs a game of inches. Glad i managed to restrain myself from laying money on that game. as it was tempting just to throw something down with it being the season opener.
