No golfing today - raining a bit too heavy now. Besides which my wife will kill me - I have a whole bunch of letters to write as we are moving house soon ! Hang in there. It is tough - I have been trading since 1997, but am only recently starting to get it. Don't beat yourself up, just keep looking for those set ups and be fussy about it. If one gets away from you leave it - there will be another around the corner ! You do not have to trade every move. Most of the time I have no idea what it is going to do next and I also miss loads of decent setups going to the toilet etc etc.
Thanx for the heads up! Man, you are a determined guy, keeping it up since '97 Just read somewhere in an old thread good advice from someone: If your trading is not profitable yet, keep your amount of trades to a minimum, untill you start getting better results. i always kept as a rule if trading is not profitable keep your trading size to an absolute minimum (trading mostly 1 lots now). this extra rule might be a very good one indeed!
Ok, it took a long time, but, finally it worked. Out at 65. Funster is absolutely right. You can´t catch every move, don´t even think about it. Franz, from dark rainy Germany.
I trade the absolute minimum that I am comfortable with. Someday I will actually use the proper money in my trading account, but I am just happy being consistent for now. An example: one of the things I found really mentally hurt me was the amount lost when wrong on the ES mini. I really hate that spread ! So for now I am trading 200 SPYs instead when I want to get some emini action. It becomes more like a game at that level (which is what it should be )
Good morning folks! Up 10 ticks only 21 rt's. two more ticks and i am up my daily goal. I correctly predicted the upturn, now i am bearish, because the bund isn't downticking anymore. trying to get a good short.
went long instead after missing the meat of the down move, and got obliterated anyway :-(. still up 4 ticks, 27 rt's
the plan is to trade only the esx. the bund looks attractive too. I got burned too many times on the dax, so i'll leave that one. I am also going to look for some sector contracts on the eurex. In my experience the less followed markets are much easier to trade. The esx for example is really competitive. Good liquidity though. What's your strategy for the dax? I guess it's very good for chart based (longer intraday term) trades. Myself I like shorter term trades. It's easier to control the risk that way for me. Just personal preference i guess.. I am up 15 points on 50 rt's one lot. that's a good day for me, for the time being ;-) The shift to trading the morning proved a good one, for now that is. I'll leave lunch and us for others.
my strategy is discretionary, based on patterns and basic technical analysis eg support/resistance, bull/bear flags etc. Never use indicators , find them too difficult
