I am sure there would be an equal number of victims who die because the doctor refused to prescribe hydrochloroquine. Let us wait for that. I am sure there are going to be more of that. What about those hooked to ventilators who have killed more patients? New York is going to be the epicenter of lawsuits. Just wait for it. Over 17,131 dead New Yorkers and counting. How many of those families will sue the City of New York and its hospitals, doctors, nurses?

Continues to amaze me at how many are so thrilled at shooting down every possible help to cure the virus. So much glee whenever there is failure.

Nobody is having glee over hydroxychloroquine's failure to be effective for COVID-19. Trying to frame the discussion in this type of narrative is absurd. Basically you are saying that you do not support Trump hyping an unproven medicine as a COVID-19 cure than you are part of the problem --- which is ludicrous.

It would be great if hydroxychloroquine was successful. However needs to be decided by proper medical trials. Putting it to emergency use to determine if hydroxychloroquine could be effective when prescribed by doctors has the full support of most Americans. Having it hyped by politicians and media pundits as a cure for COVDI-19 is completely inappropriate.

This improper hyping had multiple consequences:
    • People with Lupus and other ailments treated by hydroxychloroquine faced a shortage of the medicine due to run on it.
    • People started using hydroxychloroquine as a preventative with minimal or no medical guidance which led to the number of deaths from heart attacks.
    • It misdirected medical research funding from more promising treatments than hydroxychloroquine.

I don't believe that. Brainwashed TDS liberals are too happy to see this fail because Orange Man Bad. The jury is still out nonetheless.

Will you agree that politicians and media pundits should not be hyping unproven medicines as cures for COVID-19?

The jury is still out. I don’t understand why you don’t attack the people who are saying lupus patients don’t get Covid or the president for calling it a game changer the same way you attack people who are trying to share the correct information.

If you read the study I posted you’d see the deaths were suspected to be associated with side effects from chloroquine. That’s why you normally need a physical examine before starting this medication. The problem is giving people a physical exam who are sick doesn’t work. There’s also issues with dosages. The dosages for malaria may not be effective for Covid.

That does not mean there may not ultimately be a benefit but I wouldn’t take it right now if I had Covid, would you?

It’s simple, based on what we all know right now, would you rather take chloroquine or remdesivir if you had Covid.
