They have to be stocks that go up but do not go up too fast. The problem is that if the stock goes up very fast, you buy and then it does not go higher

I think it's a common mistake to see something work a lot, and then assume that it will just work forever. However, if you notice common patterns happening over a recent time frame, then I think it makes sense to assume that could continue for a while. But I wouldn't try to build a system out of it.
