Just out of curiosity, what is the indicator you're using to highlight the volume spikes? It seems that some large spikes are highlighted and others aren't.

  2. surely hope and pray that....

these are not the charts you use to digest and place your

    orders....

    are they?

you must be super genius to do that with what are shown here.... salute....

  3. It's an indicator that a buddy helped me code after I had been fiddling with volume indicators on ThinkorSwim. It's really nothing too fancy, just "if volume is greater than X bars back and is also X percentage greater than the last X bars back". I haven't found a setting that I love yet, but I'm leaving it up for now because it doesn't really distract me. I'm a big fan of drawing trendlines on volume as well as price, so I'm trying to code something that helps me capture the trendline breaks on volume automatically. I'm not there yet, but I think there is hope.

The 89 tick chart is all I use, I don't use any other longer term charts. All of my trades are entered and managed from this chart (I use chart trader in NT). I used a 133 tick chart on TOS, until I started trading the CL live with a Ninjatrader sponsored brokerage.

  4. No worries, I'm sure the end of the work day was making me testier than normal ;) I just want everyone here to know that I'm not pretending to be something that I am not. I'm not a full time trader, but I've been staring at the same charts for while, and I think I can help :)

Oh, and in real time I'm only concerned with the most recent TL that is in play. The rest of the chart is totally clean during the heat of battle.

  5. That's a problem in ET, if you are not a profitable trader, you should not be giving advice.

You might think you are but believe me, the difference between thinking you are and being one is enormous.

Unless cash and consistent you endanger the thread.

By the way, where's the OP ?

  6. I said I wasn't full time, that does not mean that I am not profitable. It's easier for me stress-wise to trade while still having a job. Surely I'm not alone in that camp.

  7. perhaps, it would be an excellent idea to head up a new thread

where posters would be required to show....

    a fully funded trading acct....

i'd rather spend time reading may be 20 posts from live traders....

    than 100 from wannabes....

which the current et format seems to portray at this juncture....

it is an enormous exercise of restrain having to wade thru mountainous threads claiming to be profitable but the accompany charts from live traders' experiences and view points, are at best containing insufficient guidelines to trade from....

    however, posters claim profitability nevertheless....

    till then.... cheers everyone....

  9. ohhh, dear.....

    pls do not mind me....

i am NOT saying you in particular, or anyone else for that matter....

each and everyone of us knows.... whether or not we are trading on live signal and live acct....

it is utterly useless for me trying to decipher who is who here....

we all know ourselves, don't we, fellow traders and all....?

let those who trade live lead the way.... and if you are on your way to become one.... let's slimmer down and so state your position and desire....

    without having to confuse others....

and believe me.... your posts and your charts and what you say....

    already reveal yourself aplenty....

pls do not be offended, if you are already profitable in what you trade.... using whatever methods, whichever charts and whatever timeframes....

if and when you are profitable.... who is to argue with you.... right?

    happy trading everyone..... cheers

  10. i just remember one thing....

it is not very 'in trend' to claim mentorship = profitablility....

regardless of who your mentor is.... or mentors are....

you surely and definitely CAN NOT claim profitability in the market by those guru names.... nor methodologies whatever....

the market could not care less.... who your mentors are....

it will take your money just the same.... if your timing is off.... or that your most profitable setup momentarily turns against you....

a trader will have to live or die by himself/herself....

none of your trainer, your guru, your trading partner, nor any one else.... can save you but yourself....

if you are on.... live.... and active.... and profitable, somewhat consistently....

you would understand perfectly what i mean in a nut shell....

however, if you feel i am utterly off base.... senile.... or otherwise....
you have my sympathy as well.... lol

thx for the opportunity and your time and patient.... listening to my rambling and babbling endlessly.... shame on myself....
