What all you city people are missing is quality of life animals and caring for animals and caring for the land for animals and people contributes. You talk like eliminating it all somehow makes the world a better place.
I'm not much of a tree hugger (I mean I like animals but I also like steak), but this is a good move. Ranching is terribly inefficient and time intensive so if we can have more land to sell/harvest/utilize and don't have to wait 3 years for the cow to go to the slaughterhouse I'm all for it. Not to mention the possibility of engineering away the red meat enzymes that lead to cancer and heart disease.
Who is this we Kemosabe? It's not your land to sell/harvest/utilize. It's not even your time to use efficiently and I hate to think what your idea of an efficient use of time is.
Sure beats grazing cattle on Mars. Maybe Elon will make an announcement he's buying the company. That should be good for at least another 50-100 points on TSLA.
It's certainly are my taxes that go into farm subsidies. I hate all forms of government hand overs - defense industry, farming subsidies, private jails or subsidized housing (defense tops my hate-list cause they use so many resources for very little benefit). So if synthetic food puts farmers out of business I welcome it. Good riddance. Reduced environmental impact is also welcome, the amount of resources livestock farmers utilize and the amount of waste they produce is staggering.
I know you hate to hear this, but this is the future. Just like cars have replaced horses, it's inevitable that food production will be synthetic and agriculture will be a thing of the past. You can hate it, love it or invest in it.
Even when you agree with leftists they scorn you for it. How 'bout this, less rain forest clearing, more sustainable forestry, more "fair trade" java for your favorite over priced coffee shop, less industrial farming and animal abuse, etc... And not every country has private grazing land, much of Latin America has grazing subsidies so yes, that is land that can go on the private domain. Not to mention this fantasy that "organic" grass fed BS is unsustainable for the present and future population.
Hey... It don't bother me a bit. I think its a great idea. I'd invest in a NY minute. (love the punch card below ) http://www.brit.co/jetsons-inventions/ What is that on the tip of George's nose? Was he predicting VZ?
You guys are like 50 years behind cutting edge agriculture and animal husbandry, animal abuse my ass, those animals represent future earnings and they are not abused. Where do you even get your information? Occupy? The practices you decry were obsolete years ago and all you see is the visible corpses. Almost all advancement today is in the field of microbiology. Just keep your this land is your/my land crap on your side of the iron curtain and don't interfere with a man, his land and an honest living. And that goes for you too EPA.
