I think anyone here with half a brain can get the point I am making. Here is an example for a book you may recognize.... "This is an excellent book that I highly recommend...No, there are no secrets in it, but it's extremely well written and contains many nuggets of knowledge from a multitude of top traders. I enjoyed it more than the Market Wizard books. It earned a spot in my 10 all-time favorite trading books." Dave Goodboy's (a.k.a. Marketsurfer) EliteTrader Review Dave Goodboy Interview with Michael Covel read more at http://trendfollowing.com/endorsements.html I think we can all agree this book ended up not being so hot in most peoples' eyes...in spite of the ungodly amount of hype it received about how groundbreaking it was going to be... sound familiar? P.S. In case no one happened to notice, the review for Trendfollowing I posted was written by none other than Tim's best pal Marketsurfer......who also happens to be listed as one of the rave reviewers in Tim's list.....
Goodboy's review isn't even that positive--and notice there's no comparison to any classics like I have. Nonetheless, TrendFollowing sold 100k copies, that'd be just fine with me
***DISCLAIMER- WHAT HE MEANS BY "GOODBOY" IS MARKETSURFER....HE JUST WANTS TO MISDIRECT YOU FROM THINKING IT IS ONE OF HIS PALS HE IS TALKING ABOUT. It's in his all time top ten reading list...for a professional reviewer/trader..that is pretty damn positive. Now you are arguing semantics...ooh it didn't exactly reference a "classic".. hell, trendfollowing's title didn't try to rip off the titles of the "classics" to promote itself either. You specifically use the name Stock Operator and 2 million dollars or whatever in your book to attract buyers....like a bugzapper... you said it yourself... At least Trendfollowing wasn't out there trying to pawn itself off as another book(s). My point is, smurf gave it a HUGE review (top ten reading list for a professional in the reviewing/trading community is quite the statement, no matter what you say). He gave yours a HUGE review.... this was merely an example of how people just write reviews for their pals. Matter of fact, Marketsurfer had quite the lovers spat with Covell and kept wanting his review removed....funny thing is...he didn't have a problem writing it in the first place....Just goes to show that people will just write whatever the hell they need to in order to hook up their buddies. All about marketing, deception and PR.
Grady Harp, Timmay's cornerstone reviewer on his web site, probably doesn't even read the books he reviews any more than Surfer did! http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=1565089&highlight=harp#post1565089
