I trade stocks, both long and short, flat at the end of the day. In fact since about a month into my paper trade, I picked one and stay with that one exclusively since August. There is a reason, that particular stock has a good rhythm compared to index. I think it is because it is a smaller company (but not small cap), so fewer MM and less institutional. I tried index, didn't work that well for me. Don't know why.
I traded live, small size for 12 consecutive weeks, it was profitable all 12 weeks. Averaged 0.4% profit a day, 4 out of every 5 days were positive and only twice had two consecutive losing days. I made a decision a couple of weeks ago to stop and go back to paper trades. Why? Because I couldn't quantify my edge. Going back to paper to try quantify the system makes more sense to me. No more free "Chicken Sandwich" or "BigMac" every day.
