  3. The 5k for all tax payers is nowhere as bad as establishing universal healthcare. The liberals will argue that universal health care works for other countries but that is because their country isn't the one developing all the drugs. If Universal healthcare is put in place then the development of drugs will be harshly decreased, the quality of healthcare will decrease and taxes will increase. You might want to rethink your positions.

  4. What they are saying there is the $18K is added to your income. If you're in the 28% bracket that creates a tax of about $5K. However, you're going to receive a tax credit of $5K, so it's a wash. The $18K premium is employer paid health insurance.

This $18K must be one helluva plan. My wife and I pay less than half that...I'm 63, she's in her mid 50s.

Note: you pick your own plan, you don't have to spend $18K on health insurance.

  8. Having Health insurance in the USA sucks. A tooth extraction, when I was employed and had insurance, cost $500 or so to the insurance and even more to me. Out of work, no insurance, I had a tooth extracted for $158, out the door, no junk mail-bills /insurance headaches, nothing.. and there was little difference in the quality of work at all. It was not at a freebie clinic or anything of the kind, I just shopped for price essentially... If I had to have insurance, be it private or public, I want catastrophic coverage [or bankruptcy works too]

  9. For Doctors, they have to have (typically) two assistants just to process the insurance paperwork. That overhead costs money.

In Canada, by contrast, in British Columbia, the doctor doesn't need to have two assistants, because all filing is done online, paperless, with a single payer. Much lower overhead.
