The article does not really differentiate between functions that should be privatized to for-profit entities like state liquor stores, and functions that should not like K-12 education. Let me mention that states that have private liquor sale have lower prices and much wider selection than states that have a state-run ABC store system (like North Carolina). I look forward to the day when liquor stores are privatized in our state. Privatization is not necessarily evil as this article is trying to suggest - there are some functions that should be privatized for the benefit of the public, and others should not. The key is to understand where privatization is appropriate.

Schools are a different situation from prisons. Sure, the schools get paid per child but but there is not forced attendance of the school, unlike prison (hence the term school choice. You never hear about prison choice...haha). fan27
