Stranger Catches Toddler Falling From 4th-Floor Balcony Deputies: Alert Hotel Guest Saved Child's Life POSTED: Thursday, April 21, 2011 UPDATED: 10:20 am EDT April 21, 2011 ORLANDO, Fla. -- A 2-year-old girl fell from a fourth-floor hotel balcony in the tourist district of Orlando on Wednesday night, but she was caught by a hotel guest and was not injured, according to Orange County deputies. Orange County Sheriff's spokeswoman Denise Rollins said "it was a miracle" the child wasn't injured in the fall, which happened about 9:15 p.m. at the Econo Lodge on International Drive in Orlando. The toddler was taken to the hospital as a precaution. A guest from England staying on the first floor spotted the toddler and caught her as she fell, deputies said. The 2-year-old's parents, who live in Tampa, Fla., told deputies that they were unaware that she had gotten out of the hotel room. Another guest said although she didn't see the toddler fall, she heard horrific screams from those who witnessed the incident. The Florida Department of Children and Families will investigate the incident. There's no word if any criminal charges will be filed.
