A planet with no money

  1. It is man's history throughout the ages.

Socialistic forces and desires... both from those who covet power.. and those who are happy to "get anything for free which they can"... constantly eat at and erode that which made America great.

Too bad the average citizen won't study world history a bit to learn and appreciate how special American has been. And with that knowledge, acquire the desire to preserve it. :( :(

Something would take money's place. Like oil, ammo, food. You better tell Fresco to concentrate on the hurricane proof house instead...now that I like.

I hesitate to blame the politicians. Yes they are greedy but it's part of the human makup. To be devoid of greed is to be non-human. Greed and strive to have more and more has partly driven our species. The founding fathers were well aware of this and hence drew up a constitution that would as much as possible decentralise power and tie one hand behind the federal government's back. The fact that politicians have accepted bribes by lobbyists till we are at the point where the constitution is largely ignored should be no surprise (hint it's that all human trait of greed). "We The People" are as much to blame for not forcing politicians to respect the constition at ALL times.

  4. The notion of an economic society or economic world without money is STUPID! The only reasonable alternative is barter... which is stifling and too inconvenient.

  5. Correctamundo. "We the people" SHOULD have been more vigilant all along. That we were not, for whatever reason, has allowed the liars, cheaters, greedy, usurpers and power hungry to gather control over the ages. Obama, ASSHOLE that he is... is merely the "golden spike" which finalizes our destiny of enslavement.

Unfortunately, the "Great American Experiment" will end as some sort of dictator or oligarchy ascends to power and dominance... as it has all through world financial and governmental history. The world would be a much better and happier place if it were the other way around. :( :(

I think a much better project for Fresco would be to acquire a large piece of land and invite all the freedom loving people of the world. He doesn't even need to write a constitution, he can borrow from the U.S.

  8. How do you know what a world without money would be like? You've never experienced it and are only using your own life on Earth as a judge of what it would be like. Maybe a society without money is almost fully automated and have necessary technology to produce goods and services with minimal effort from the people. Maybe people would only work 2 hours a day to contribute their efforts and talents and spend the rest of the time with their family and friends. Seems better than spending 10-12 hours a day at a job with barely enough to show for it to make ends meet.

Surely you can't believe that our society with all of the ills from money and power which produces corruption, famine, wars, genocide etc is an example of "highly evolved". Which member of the above two societies is the slave and which is free?

The Venus Project = Gilligan's Island = Pure fantasy. There is far too big a variation in peoples talents and skills for it to be otherwise, and there are far too many people who are inherently lazy, dumb and unwilling to make any contribution, and far too few Mother Teresas to take their place.

So there is no opportunity to get ahead of your neighbor, as the needs of everyone are met in the same way. Sounds like communism/socialism, and it would work just as well.
