jem take... (this is not the algo speaking)

the dems have two targets diffusing some polling questions.
if them dems only had one target... they would be reallying taking heat on this... as they should... because they could pass the budget section by section.

this is all does not matter right now... because the debt ceiling issue could also sway things.

    in the end....

the Rs best scenario is that the dems cave because wall street and the FED will tell them too.

I just hope the Rs realize they are in the drivers seat and don't fold.

Republican Party Favorability Sinks to Record Low
    Falls 10 percentage points from September's 38%
    October 9, 2013

"WASHINGTON, D.C. -- With the Republican-controlled House of Representatives engaged in a tense, government-shuttering budgetary standoff against a Democratic president and Senate, the Republican Party is now viewed favorably by 28% of Americans, down from 38% in September. This is the lowest favorable rating measured for either party since Gallup began asking this question in 1992."

  3. What I want to know is who are the fools who view any aspect of this government favorably, dem, repub, president or otherwise? Rating should be ZERO across the board.

Once again, it doesn't matter. All of these polls are national. The only thing that matters to the Republican congress is what their localized constituents believe. If Cruz's constituency thinks the world of him (and they do), then these polls could show him with a 1% approval rate, and he'll still get re-elected hands down.

Too bad, so sad. The same bullshit that keeps Pelosi coming back time and time again works the other way as well.

National polls only have meaning for people elected nationally.

    Ah, timely article.

    Link

n another edition of the polls the media won't cover, between September 29 and October 6, Democrats have lost a four point lead in Rasmussen's generic ballot that asks voters if they would vote for a Democrat or Republican in the upcoming midterm elections. That poll is now tied at 40% - 40%. At the end of last month, Democrats led 42% - 38%.

The media continue to run headlines that read, "Poll Shows GOP Taking Share of Shutdown Blame," which is true. Most polls show Republicans are at a single-digit deficit when compared to Democrats (still, a vast improvement over the 2-to-1 deficit the GOP faced in '95). But all that matters is what happens on Election Day.

If you back up a little further, Obama and his media's entire shutdown strategy is all about 2014. The media want to give Obama a third-term, which is an accurate way of describing what will happen if Democrats retake the House.

Like this Rasmussen poll, most polls show that Democrats are only hurting themselves a wee-bit more than Republicans. But midterm House races are hyper-local base elections. Which means that another story the media won't tell is what a GOP surrender would do to turnout in the 2014.

Context matters, and while the media ignore inconvenient polls and try to scare the GOP into handing Obama a victory, the story the media won’t tell is what a surrender will do to the GOP's electoral chances if the base feels betrayed and stays home.

When you are in political trouble, you hold on to your base. That is Politics 101. That is why Obama is doing what he's doing and why Democrats are doing what they are doing.

Everyone is in political trouble, but the only Party the media are trying to coax into a full collapse is the GOP.

    THE OBAMA BLOCKADE: DANIEL GREENFIELD
Posted By Ruth King on October 10th, 2013
In the spring of ’48, the collision of wills between the free world and the red slave empire of the east came to a head in Berlin.

The Communist strategy had been to push forward, to violate the spirit of the agreements and then the letter of the agreements while claiming to be the aggrieved party. Their takeovers in Eastern Europe baffled a West that could not believe the Reds would show such poor sportsmanship.

Had the USSR waited a little longer, a weary United States would have withdrawn. Instead Stalin decided to humiliate the United States and demonstrate its impotence in international affairs.

The Berlin Blockade was a siege in all but name. Beyond the sheer fact of food and coal being cut off to a city of millions were a thousand minor humiliations by Soviet officials designed to break the will of their enemies to resist.

That was their mistake. And it’s a mistake that the left often makes.

The barricades around the Lincoln Memorial and the WW2 Memorial, the traffic cones blocking the view of Mt. Rushmore and the sawhorses around Old Faithful are no Berlin Blockade, but they come out of the same meanness of spirit and the same motives.

The petty harassment extended to a 24-hour blockade of an inn that had tried to stay open and rangers arriving to block Old Faithful every time it erupted. There are few moments that sum up the meanness of spirit of the Obama Blockade as well as a park ranger angrily telling senior citizens to get back on the bus and stop taking photos because they are engaging in forbidden “recreating”.

The Obama Blockade has no valid justification. Like the Berlin Blockade, it is about power and control.

House Dem Eleanor Holmes Norton Called “Self-Absorbed” For Daring To Question Dear Leader’s Handling of Shutdown…

Yesterday afternoon President Stompy Feet held a meeting with Democrats to discuss the Federal Government Shutdown. Washington DC congresswoman, Eleanor Holmes, told Dear Whiner the House Bill funding DC should be supported by him and the Senate as a quick fix to the current fiscal stalemate. She was quickly jumped upon for daring to walk off the plantation and question “dear leader”…..

  9. More disgraceful actions. Convicts being paid while prison guards do not:
About 100 prison workers at South Dakota’s federal prison camp in Yankton are still showing up to work during the government shutdown, even though their pay is being denied. But in a "Say, what?!" outrage, the inmates they are supervising are still being compensated for the jobs they do onsite.

"There's a different funding for them," American Federation of Government Employees Local 4040 Union President Michele Kunkel told a local CBS affiliate.

Not insulted enough? Furloughed government workers not only getting a paid vaction, courtesy of the private sector taxpayer, they're getting a bonus. Unemployment compensation, even though they're not unemployed and they don't pay into unemployment as private sector workers do. Nice!
