Whoever sent those words to you did not mean to be spiteful, just unbiased. Your premises are demonstrably wrong, your arguments are tautological, your responses are off-point, yet this thread has gone 70-some pages. I haven't seen such a thing in at least a year -- maybe longer.

    Whatever.

I hope you get the help you deserve.

    Tom,
    Your characterization of Amahrix is spot on. Other flaws in his thinking: 1) not understanding that a simple binomial test applied to a series of trade outcomes can distinguish between pure luck and trading skill at whatever level of Type I error an investigator chooses. People who trade profitably almost every day generate data that, when analyzed by a binomial test, determine that the probability of their success being due to luck was 1/(many thousands);
    2) at points in this thread his statements appear to show that he believes that daytrading is defined not by being flat overnight, but rather by looking only at sub-daily price action. He referred repeatedly to making a decision to be short last Friday from a 30-minute chart.

Nothing he said is an improvement on the concepts of money management, i.e., bet sizing, which have been researched quantitatively by John Kelly, Ralph Vince and others.

The odd thing is why so many, even I who almost never posts, have responded to ravings. Probably our subconscious motivation is the same as that of a person who sees someone choking on food or having an epileptic attack. In this case however, help is not deserved in my opinion.

Please e wheeze let me back in. I promise to behave. I did a great job pushing this thread from 50 to 73 pages. Doesn’t that count for anything? Guess not. I guess it was just bad luck that I got blocked. Did I induct the blocking or was it a black swan event?

Anyways, just remember most of us jostle around on ET. The jostling is not mean’t to be serious. You did quite a bit of jostling around yourself..upsetting OVERNIGHT AND OTHERS...ETC ..Actually you went a little further than just some jostling around.

Nobody is perfect. Can I get another chance? I will discipline myself. It is hard but I will do it. I will not circle like a black buzzard. I will just quietly sneak in like a wolf.

I won’t be like a hyena and make alot of noise...

    Truce???

PS I am I being tautological here with my black buzzard...wolf..and hyena...metaphors?

Man is it ever hard to say things the right way. I’m learning...give me some time...old habits are hard to break.

    What turkey problem?

Yesterday you say I was smart (maybe it was todaAs for my *disgust of you* (I have no disgust, disdain is more like it).

    - first you say I am smart then you call me an idiot
Is there a point you are attempting to make by pulling a quote out of your Nasim's arse?

I edited on the fly but not quick enough before you "grabbed" it.

Except Black Swans are so rare, if you listen to the "experts", they shouldn't even happen. Does Taleb resort to name calling as often as you?

I really like Mark Blyth, the esteemed political economist at Brown University. When he mentioned that he was asked by Taleb to proofread his book “Black Swan” prior to publishing, he also explained that he (Blyth) was one of the few people in academia who could tolerate Taleb for brief periods of time.

It turns out that there are Nobel prize winning economists (two that I’ve found, including Richard Thaler) that have blocked Taleb on Twitter simply because he’s an insufferable troll who inserts himself into discourse and gets personal and nasty very quickly.

I never knew this until this morning. Quite the Reddit topic it seems.

Sam Harris on Nassim Nicholas Taleb:

“I know many of you love this guy, and think he's a genius. I can assure you, none among you, are as impressed with his intelligence as he is. This guy is just insufferable. I've actually never witnessed a marriage of incompetence and confidence so fully and grotesquely consummated in the mind of a person with a public platform. This is the most arrogant person I have ever had the misfortune of meeting. When you meet him you quickly discover that he radiates a sense of grievance from his pores in a way that few people do. It's kind of like a preternatural force of negative charisma. He is a child in a man's body. And the mismatch between his estimation of himself and the quality of his utterances is so complete and so mortifying to witness in person that you just find you're jumping out of your skin.”

You and others continue Ad Hominem. “Get outta Nassim’s Arse” “Nassim this, Nassim that”. In an attempt discredit or disqualify the man so you feel better about avoiding the truth.

  10. Morning Amahrix,

You ask me do I think my trading was luck in another thread. I answered here, and I have not received any comments from you yet.

I mean, I understand the book fooled my random markets, but man, we don't have time for all that reading book stuff, money still have to be made daily trading. If the markets is fooled by random, oh well, it is what it is. I been fooled by women too, but I still have to play with them and get it.
