  2. Not necessarily true for newer immigrants, for example, the Latinos. The "hillbillies" and lower income whites are not stuck (usually) in the inner cites with the huge amounts of drugs and crime opportunities available that is infused into the black culture.

Immigrants are "tougher" work ethic-wise than most americans.
Many of us wouldn't survive in their world for a week.

When you go from collecting wood daily for cooking, and no available work in a terribly poor society, to the land of McDonald's, 7-11, and many underpaying, back breaking jobs, it would seem like easy street when compared with what they came from.

  4. True and exactly why they have "priced" other minorities (as well as whites) out of that job market.

I hope you don't feel that we are victims of being priced out of those markets?

We're too lazy/rich to pick fruit in the fields for less than minimum wage. Or for minimum wage at that.

When I was young I detassled corn for 3 weeks in the mud until I realized that a restaurant job was a much better angle.

Interesting side note: The company employed immigrant mexicans to do the important work, and to clean up after the white, disaffected youths.
Half the price, and twice the quality of work.

  6. No, it goes back to the general indigenous population's unwillingness to work at that job for that amount of money. Of course, now we are dependent upon that ethnic labor pool. Watch the hispanic population take over the SouthWestern United States within the next 25-40 years, displacing all other races. Ought to be interesting.

I love when people bitch about immigration without realizing that the apple they are eating was picked for .0000000000000000001 cents...

I'd like to see them give the "we're making it too easy on immigrants" argument to their great-great grandfathers, a year off the boat in the 1920's.

They'd get taken to the woodshed. :)

  8. now there's bigotry for you

You must be able to comprehend the ideas of minority, majority and oppression before you'd realize why your statement makes little sense.

I'll bet black bigotry affects your life every day, huh? Messes with your freedoms and pursuit of happiness?

White bigotry must be no big deal these days... After all, slavery was over 100 years ago, and I'm not a racist...

    Duh...

    ***************************************************

Bottom line is, most white persons today have never participated in segragation. Most white people's ancestors immigrated after slavery ended. For those who immigrated earlier, half again lived in the north.

A great deal of white people have never done anything toward blacks that deserves being hated for.

Views that all white people deserve to be hated because of their skin color (even though they've never done anything wrong) will only create hatred where it didnt exist. Everyone hates a false accusation.

That's why I called your statement

(I have sympathy for an african american that hates whites.

I laugh at a white person that hates african americans.

    )

    bigotry

swtrader, I simply mean that I have sympathy/understanding for someone who has been oppressed, and finds fault with the majority.

Why should I have sympathy for a racist white person, who has NO good reason to hate, other than to perpetuate the status quo?

Actually, the more I think about it, I do have sympathy for the ignorant... I have much more sympathy for those who have been consistently fucked throughout life, and claim that it is systematic.

Btw, just because someone is an immigrant, does not preclude them from racism/prejudice.

Africans are discriminated against in most anglo countries.

I was mugged in europe and the first question the police asked me was, "Was he black?"

    My reply was,
    "Does it matter?"
