    On reparations.

Whenever there was a war, there were reparations paid to the PERSON THAT WAS WRONGED not their descendents. Japanese, Germans etc.

After the Civil War the freed slaves were given 2 acres and a mule. That was in the days before income tax and our government did not have huge sums of money to just piss away.

Most of our legislators are lawyers and they passed laws to make themselves rich with the proceeds from lawsuits.

Now you can sue for any frivolous thing and make a million bucks. Sure beats actually WORKING for the money.

Blame everyone else except yourselves for your poor lot in life.

    I take resposibility for mine.
I took my lemons and made lemonaide!

  2. Sure you were. First you claimed you were shot during your "escape," then in a different version, you left that out entirely and alluded that it was during your capture. Maybe you were hit twice. And of course, you have the commendation from the medal, RIGHT?

  7. Oh shower me with your amazing command of the English language, Maxie. People often use big, flowery language to hide the fact that they don't have much of an original thought in their brain.

Put the SAT study guide down and step off your high horse and join the rest of us for some crumpets and tea.

    Aphexcoil,
    you wrote earlier:

"Nothing pisses me off more than to read stories of African Americans suing corporations because they were involved with slavery over a hundred years ago.

Many of them don't even fully understand the depth of slavery and what actually happened. Slavery has been around since the beginning of man, and it was common place in Rome through Patronage.

Also, many of the black slaves were treated very well and were considered part of the family, with many having rooms within the main house.

I'm not suggesting that slavery is good, but if someone is going to speak up about slavery and what took place, perhaps they should really research it. Not every slave was trying to get up North during that time period. Many of them enjoyed decent lives under the protection of a wealthy plantation owner while others were starving to death."

I basically agree with most of what i have read from you, but I think you have a diffcult stand here. Treating slaves nicely cannot be an excuse for owning them. And do not forget: majority of the world called civilised at that time, including majority of americans, had already comdemned slavery.
And if companies were build on slaves and stakeholders today still profit indirectly from their work, why shouldn't the slaves have financial claims as well? it depends on the actual amount - but there seems to be some right to get reward for your work, don't you agree? it is quit e a different thing to run for one of this ridiculous millionsOfDollarsSentences - no doubt 'bout that.

    peace
