See, had we done this after Obama left us with record low unemployment numbers instead of passing tax cuts we didn't need in 2017, the impact would've been lessened
You do realize that a minimum wage increase has nothing to do with how well/poorly an employer manages their employees? You also realize that a minimum wage increase is not a job promotion? I'm suspecting your answers are 'no' and 'no.'
You suspect wrong. Did you read what I posted? A minimum wage increase is not going to increase the productivity of an employee. They will just be getting paid more to stand around and pick their ass. It now just costs the employer more money for them to be able to do so. It is wholly the employer's fault for retaining employees who stand around and pick their ass, and it is the employee's fault for standing around picking their ass. Maybe by being forced to pay employees more for picking their ass, the employers will actually get busy firing said employees, or "incentivizing" their work so they become more productive. An employee should be giving their 110% at their job no matter the wage, and be grateful they even HAVE a fucking job. The better the work you do, the higher you climb up the ladder. Simple and basic stuff. Honest pay for honest work.
It's not funny. I busted my hump in every W-2 I ever worked in, and my last gig in a big-box retail some 11 years ago was the hardest. Running around the store giving the 110%, while watching coworkers just lollygag around. So I wind up doing their work as well. And due to "corporate culture", these jamokes were never held accountable. I worked so hard I blew out my hip (due to a previous bodily complaint that resurfaced because of all the exertion), and could no longer work the job. Even to this day, the same stores continue to employ people with NO WORK ETHIC. Drives me batty.
Anyone hiring illegal immigrants are not paying them based off of a minimum wage so the issue has nothing to do with flow of cheap labor....they are paid under the table. Minimum wage only affects those who actually receive a W-2 salary and pay taxes. Raising minimum wage should not really affect automation because whether you are paying them $10 or $15 an hour, it is always cheaper in the long run to automate like in fast food where they have order kiosks and thus less cashiers. That is just keeping up with technology. If a minimum wage means better qualified employees for certain jobs there still are a shit load of jobs in service and retail that dont require a ph.d to work at. rocket scientists are not needed to bus tables, clean floors, stock warehouses or maintain premises inside and outside.
Not when the fat cats cannot tell that the lower-level managers are also picking their ass. It was a horrible culture I witnessed through the years. Hell, my store manager was a kick-asser, but I could tell his hands were tied. He did what he could, so much shit I witnessed. Man oh man. And after I left, my store manager was transferred and they got a Mr. Softee manager who never lit a fire under their asses. Now the store is in the absolute dumps when it comes to customer service. Nobody in the store cares, because the store manager doesn't care.
someone needs to teach you basic math. if you need 10 people to run a restaurant, maybe you get by with 9. You can’t run your business with 5 regardless of the wages. You don’t think a business that hired 10 people at 7.5 would hire only 5 at 7.5 if they could? I am against the minimum wage, but your logic is below sophomoric.
