A Flat Tax for California?

  1. there are definitely people who aren't pulling their own weight in this state.

    i believe taxes should to some degree proportionately reflect how much you use a particular service.

    for instance, dmv reg fees should be reduced to 0.3% of the car's value with the remainder should be recovered as a gas tax. therefore, the more you use the roads the more you pay. sounds fair right?

    property taxes are primarily used to pay for public education but as others pointed out, the tax only reflects the value of the property not how many of your children attend school. this should change.

    the above changes would make things fair and equal for all, but by default that means it has zero chance of happening here. there are too many $25k-yer-year artists and shiftless losers who think others should pay for their services.
