  1. It was quite strange when the first one appeared on my screen.

I will have to shut down that messenging option if I can find where it is!

Ahh...I have been getting this one pop-up ad randomly. It's even when I'm not running anything. Annoying...

Dustin, I second the recommendation to use AdAware from Lavasoft to remove spyware/trojans. Try it -- you may be surprised what you have on your system.

The messages MainFramer is describing is not to be confused with MSN Messenger. This messenger is a seemingly inoccuous text popup dialog box. You can send a message to yourself to see what it looks like by typing:

net send <your computer name> hi!

You can find your computer name by right-clicking the My Computer icon, click properties, and click the network identification tab.

    To disable the popup dialog:

Under Control Panel, select Administrative Tools.
    Select Services.
    Double-click on Messenger.
In the Messenger Properties window, select Stop, then choose Disable as the Startup Type.
    Click OK.

You can read more about this windows feature in the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - Q148991.
  5. Dustin- Maybe you're downloading too much porn.... Next thing you know, you get stuff for gay men and their farm animals popping up.

Let me know when you are going to do this, because I want to listen in - I think I will probably pull a muscle laughing.
