Geez, First, I like the keep it simple premise and your discipline for someone new. You make some very good observations, are humble and obviously work hard. Keep up your good work. I donât mean to sully your journal with a few questions and I may get ripped for this, but I canât help wondering how a government worker can get away with not doing his job a lot of the day to trade? Do you feel guilty at all for putting off work to work on your bet on company time? Oh, I forgot, government. So our tax dollars at work so you can win a bet? Assuming it is government of course. I guess I figured the govt would monitor Internet usage like many companies these days. Of course at least you are doing something constructive with the time you are not working. What do you think your employer would say or do if they knew? Or what if it was your company and you found an employee doing this? Not trying to be hateful or negative as you are doing well so far, I just find it interesting is all. Of course if you are self-employed, I guess it doesnât matter but I get the impression that is not the case. Maybe you will decide you can trade for living. It is impressive some of your coworkers have not noticed. Just an observation I am surprised has not been mentioned with all the government dissatisfaction of late. I am curious to hear your thoughts about this. I do admire your openness and attempts to help others. Good luck on the bet and your trading though. Again, a good journal and keep plugging away. It is a marathon not a sprint. BM
Big Money, I work as a contractor for the government, not an actual government employee so, as long as I get my 40 hrs a week in (80 hrs every 2 weeks to be precise), I'm in good standing w/ the company. I work from a home office, so I don't have to worry about people walking by. I start my day at 5am and work hard til 9am, then turn towards trading from 9:30-12:00pm. I go back to my government contract from 12-1:30pm until the close (4pm) , then usually work another 3 hrs (til 7 pm). Some (read:alot) of days I have to cut into my trading time to do work for the contract....You will notice that I don't post in real time my exits..this usually means I'm working for my "real job". This is my first year working for the govenment and I have to admit (I'm sure Nodoji and Mr Weinstein will attest to this, since I've told them in his chat room).....there is alot of wasted money in the defense program. I actually had a Time Card Audit last week and it was found that I undercharged my hours for the job I'm on. I don't count 1/2 hrs that I work, or travel time it takes me to go to the main office(about 3 blocks from my condo), and these are all things I SHOULD be adding to my time sheet (but I don't). Since I am employeed through the government I won't comment too much on how poorly I think money is being spent...but if you are smart enough, I'm sure you can figure out my meaning......hope that is blunt enough for you. -G Edit: It's because of my job that I can't post charts, my P/L or, basically anything at all off my computer......At least we know "they" make sure no vital information is being passed through this computer.
Love your thread So much to learn from your posts. I read in one of your post that you move up stop from -1.0 to 1.0 after reaching 1.75 level. Why not place a trailing stop from there ; may be a 0.25 trail? Also, have you checked the one-cancel-other feature of Scottrade? http://community.scottrade.com/video/36 Thanks,
I must be a fool for saying that without reading full thread. Your Target & Exit are so precise You are already using it Has someone tried to automate this strategy? It looks like a great money machine if we can program the trade entry trigger. Thanks,
Week Ending 4/24/09: Total P/L +955.58 19 trades 7 wins 10 losses 2 b/e YTD: Total P/L +14,863.49 102 wins 120 losses 12 b/e avg. 45.9 % ratio 1.88
Thanks for the heads up on it anyway sudhaker, I did NOT know scottrade had a webinar for other advanced orders,so I'm going to look through that now.....thanks again. -G
Geez, As I said, I was not trying to be critical without knowing all the facts nor trying to tarnish your excellent journal. My apologies if I came across that way. That was far more detail than necessary or expected (but appreciated). Glad to see you are working hard and taking advantage of your schedule flexibility to better yourself and explore the wonderful world of trading. I would do the same thing in your situation. I wish you continued success with your trading and your bet. Good luck BM
this is a good thread to read. still expecting some description of your 4 set ups. seems u dont have time to post all 4 at once; may be just post one or two. dont understand your trades that u take in the first few minutes of trading. other than that it seems u trade mostly off the wave 2. ie HL for longs and LH for shorts am i right. good luck trading on monday.
