A 70k bet that I can't make a 50% gain in 2009

  1. - missed AYE at the open (textbook)
    - had no fill on on SLB short at 10:32 (short at 63.99) - cancelled it after the initial miss (would have filled a few minutes later)

    0-0 trades today..

    6-0 flyers..

    9:36 SHORT VCLK 11.44
    STOP 11.54
    TGT 11.24

    - VCLK is extended up on the daily, aggressively looking for shorts
    - SPY and VCLK both gap up but SPY tries for higher and VCLK holds
    - look to short VCLK when it breaks a new low at .44
    - 20c target takes me to low tick +1c on the day. Def got a little lucky on this one as this baby still had at least another day of mojo in it

    9:49 SHORT CELG 59.07 filled 59.11)
    STOP 59.21
    TGT 58.91

    - CELG weak vs. SPY from the open onwards
    - take lower higher
    - no dice..

    - I passed on shorting APOL under the 10:20 bar which basically rocketed to target and got me all mad at myself.
    - As a result I didn't follow geez on the CELG re-short which also rocketed to target.
    - All tilted I waited until the afternoon to look for a new trade
    - I looked to short under the 2:15 bar of TSL under 17.00. I set an entry at .99c allowing up to 1c of slippage (I was looking to have a stop at .06 so I could not allow too much slippage)
    - TSL blows by .99 and I get 0 shares short.. JScott was on the same trade and got filled at .96 I believe on a stop market (I used a stop limit) to enter. There's no way I can let myself slip 3c on a trade with a 7c target
    - TSL rips to target and beyond..

1-1 day, could have been alot better, glad it wasn't alot worse.

    go flyers..

Indeed I snagged a fill on TSL below 17 and took several pennies slippage. I was comfortable using a sell stop in this case because I was looking for a LOD breakout and it plowed right through as expected.

For the record, this trade was an add from a previous entry of 17.19 (I used a stop limit on the initial entry). Either way I got $.40 on each leg and turned out to be a good trade. Nevermind that I got squeezed out on an entry at the 13:05 bar. So my second attempt got it back three-fold. NoDoji does say that the second mouse gets the cheese. My addendum to this is that "if everybody sees the fat, dumb and happy first mouse, then you bet your rat's ass being the second mouse is the way to go". That's what happened here.
