Hey Geez, I see the audited hounds are after you. If the morons don't believe you, why would they believe a second unknown individual who AUDITS THE RESULTS? It is similar stupidity that Madoff took advantage of. He hired a corrupt auditor and the gullible bought into his holy grail fund. Keep up your postings and put the morons on the mentally ignore button. I have to deal with them since I gather new clients from among the dregs, LOL. My estimate is that for every dozen idiots you find on this site there is one real gem who really wants to learn and make trading a hard earned profession. Successfully, Alex L. Hello Geez, thanks for your reply....If I can comment on your yesterday's trades,I would say that if you had wait for the violation of the daily bars' low and then proceed to work in the intraday chart, you would have avoided all of your losses. Anyway, mistakes occur from time to time and I believe that the lesson market taught all of us yesterday was more valuable than having just a few more winning trades....And the lesson is :first,a strike of losing trades can happen and will happen....If you keep your losses small and respect your risk management strategy, this losing strike won't hurt you much.... Geez followed his plan yesterday....That is very very important....I am sure that a winninig strike is waiting around....Geezs' system is fantastic and it has worked very well till now.Losses are a part of doing business.I am sure that, starting today, winning trades are on their way..... Geez, don't bother with the flammers...All of us,who watch your effort from the first day we support you 100%...... I believe that you were not in a good mood yesterday, and this is the reason you didn't post your setups. Will you please do it today?
Hey zigzag, First off, if you have been following, you know to feel free and ask any questions about anything. Second, my house is in Socal where cost of living is high and I am in the Washington DC area on a work contract for, at least this year where the cost of living is high. I have made roughly 20k this year from trading....not alot of money in a area like DC or LA. Also, I am not 100% certain, but I think my trading strategy would change if I had to rely on the money I make from trading as my only source of income. I think knowing I have that steady income, I can let trades go to my target without the pressure of taking them early. I can not say for sure if I would change, but I don't want to take that added risk. I like having trade income every year to use as "disposable income".....in better terms, have fun money. It makes trading alot more fun as well, I think. And not as stressful. -G But one added side note: Working does blow. LOL
Andreas, Actually, if you look at the 5 min chart of RIMM you can see how weak it was early on in the morning and I had a short order out on it that never got filled that dropped well over $1.00. I really like having a stock I like for a short gap up a bit in the a.m. and trying to be aggressive in shorting it. If I waited for all my setups to break the prior low I would have missed over 85% of my trades so far this year. I have said in here before, I usually come into each day with a bias and try to stick to that bias for as long as I can. Is that 100% right....no, but as long as the trades I take fall into my trading plan I have no worries. As for yesterdays trading, I have 1-2 days like that every month that do about the exact opposite that I would like. It happens..like you said, just part of trading. As for not posting the patterns, I am going to post the first one right after this post. But this is what REALLY happened (and you can't make stuff up this good): My boss and one of the leads on the project I am working on came over to my condo, which is about 2 blocks from the main office, to have a talk about the project. What I didn't realize was they came over to talk "office politics" and why they didn't get any of the raises that were issued. Oh yea, and she brought in a bottle of bacardi (she's about 5 4" 105lbs). As the day progresses and I am working (hard to believe, but true) she is talking with the lead (who has opened a very nice bottle of wine of mine) and the bacardi is setting in. By 5 pm, she's begging for a ride to the local afterwork hangout so she can talk (more like slur)to the head of the division about her raise. I proceed to get said lush ,eh, I mean woman into the car, but take her to where I tell her "I think all the guys are going to THIS place instead". As we wait for others to arrive (who I know, are not coming) she continues to make her mouth into a distillery. Fast forward a few hours and she is ready to drive home (she tells me she's fine as she stumbles walking) So I take her back to my place, seat her on the couch to call her a cab (I offered a ride home, but when I found out it was almost 45 min away I said CAB!) and within 2 mintues she is passed out. I wake up about 4:45 each morning and I got to go into my living room to see this little ball of a woman (my boss) on my couch. We have a VTC at 7:30 this morning (video teleconference) and she still hasn't moved......... A day in the life of Geez. Believe me, days like yesterday do not get me down. Flamers do not bother me one bit. It takes ALOT to rattle me, I dropped a grill full of beautiful fresh rockfish and soft shells into the Chesapeake Bay off the side of a sailboat over the weekend and didn't even flinch. If that won't rattle you, what will!?!.....-G Ok, on to the first pattern
Well. I guess I can't cut and paste while I have a secure site up. The fist setup is the higher low (if going long) and the reverse, lower high (for short). Right after work I will try to post it....sorry Andreas.
5/19/09: Charts not showing too much, may have to let things settle and play the indexes. I do have some early watches though: SNDK JOYG early shorts Short watch: FAST EBAY ERTS V Long watch: GENZ APOL
I'm sure you mean well, but this statement always bothers me. The last sentence there is key. Losses are a part of the business; and a few losing trades or days does not mean the system was working until now. It simply means that this part of the 50% has dominated. Many new folks take this to mean it is time to tweak the system or something worse dump it and on to the next version of the grail. The grail is in KNOWING what to expect form your system and trading it accordingly (accordingly here being take the setup regardless of how many losses you have had). Which I believe is what geez has shown us here. Of course there is the possibility that the fundamentals of a system can change but we do not see that after a days string of losses and I do not believe that this type of system (technical, based on price movement) changes that much.
