  1. You are assuming there will be jobs for all of those who want a job.

The only jobs that is available to some people are MLM or commission-only sales and telemarketing jobs in which very few can even make a simple living.

  2. If you are not making this up, so what there are a few exceptional enterprising individuals out there.

It doesn't change the fact that something isn't quite right when ordinary (not exceptional) citizens who are willing to work hard are not able to find some livelihood.

Please stop bashing the many hard working Americans who cannot find work.

I hope EVERYONE is aware who the obstructionists are that deny extending unemployment, or for that matter would like to eliminate it along with all other social ((((contracts)))). If you don't, let me remind you,- it's the ((((REPUBLICANS)))) in what ever suit of clothes they are wearing, be it Tea Party, Libertarian or so-called “Conservative.”
(note) I had no idea self-employed/contract work didn't pay in and have access to unemployment compensation.

You have plenty of time on your hands, though you may be short on money; put it to good purpose in November. Not only should you not weaken the Democrats, you should plead with all your family and friends to support them. If you think this is bad. I assure you it can get worse. My 95 year old friend, down the street, told me a similar attitude against the party in office that didn't cause the great depression existed then. I have my complaints with those Blue Dog Dems and some not such Dogs. I wish they could have repaired this mess faster. I'm not untouchable in this horror show of an economy.

They have been blocked at every turn by the GOP/Conservatives that just want them to look bad, using the filibuster procedure. They will sacrifice anyone or group to get back in control of our check book.

The progressive agenda is supported by the bulk of mainstream economists. It is a hard slog fighting through the unlimited money of corporations and the wealthy, but if we ever want humane government again we are going to have to fight for it.

2 out of 3 corporations (i.e. EXXON pay zero taxes). It's the agenda of the Conservatives to deliver that state of affairs sacrificing a safety net for the working class and sustainable wages and benefits.

A healthy working class is essential for a healthy economy. The Republicans and their clones the Tea Party have delivered just the opposite. Vote for your lives.

  6. Well, not one for $80,000/year with bennies... As long as the unemployment checks keep flowing, can "hold out" for the great job and salary.

In all seriousness... this mess is mostly the fault of outsourcing and the credit bubble. The world is awash with an excess of labor. Much adjusting will have to be done, little of which has been done as of yet. (And our immigration policies are not helping... hurting, in fact.)

  7. The math on this one is simple. In California there are 7 people looking for jobs for every available job opening. The national average is 4.5 people looking for jobs for every available job. It doesn't matter how much training you have, or how many resumes you send out, a lot of people will be unemployed until more jobs are available.

  9. HUH? If 20% of the US population is applying for a job clerking in the SCOTUS, we've got more mental patients than we can shake a stick at.
