ZAHN: And Wolf, part of any modern campaign is the war room, a high pressure operation that monitors media critics and responds with a rapid fire public relations blitz. Now Republicans and Democrats both use war rooms. Now the Pentagon is launching its own media war for that. We go to Pentagon correspondent Barbara Starr.

BARBARA STARR, CNN PENTAGON CORRESPONDENT: Paula, the Pentagon has begun what they call a new rapid response operation to respond quickly to stories in the news media that they believe are either critical of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld or the war in Iraq. Now the operation is similar to political boiler rooms that we have all seen in campaigns where they mount a very rapid response to any assertions out in public that those campaigns don't like.

Here in the Pentagon they're calling it actually a "bullpen". They say it is not being started up right now because of the growing criticism of the war. That this is something that they intended to do for some time. The Pentagon won't say how many people are involved or what the operation is going to cost. It was confirmed however by officials that some of the employees will actually be political appointees who will run the new operation.

Defense Secretary Rumsfeld of course has been very critical of the news media for some time. Believing that there is too much focus on what he calls "the bad news" coming out of Iraq not enough focus on the good news. And he is also been very concerned, he says, about the use of the Internet and videos by groups like al Qaeda, something that he doesn't believe the U.S. government is really prepared to deal with. So this new operation will reach out to some new media. Those involved in everything from pod-casting to YouTube. Paula?

READ THIS ARTICLE AND I AM ENCLOSING THE LINK TO IT SO YOU CAN READ IT FOR YOURSELVES
_________________
Their names were flashed around the world as suicide hijackers who carried out the attacks on America. But yesterday four innocent men told how their identities had been stolen by Osama bin Laden's teams to cover their tracks.

The men - all from Saudi Arabia - spoke of their shock at being mistakenly named by the FBI as suicide terrorists. None of the four was in the United States on September 11 and all are alive in their home country.

The Telegraph obtained the first interviews with the men since they learnt that they were on the FBI's list of hijackers who died in the crashes in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.

All four said that they were "outraged" to be identified as terrorists. One has never been to America and another is a Saudi Airlines pilot who was on a training course in Tunisia at the time of the attacks.

Saudi Airlines said it was considering legal action against the FBI for seriously damaging its reputation and that of its pilots. The FBI released the list of 19 suicide terrorists three days after the attacks.

The statement said that the 19 "have been identified as hijackers aboard the four airliners". Photographs and personal details were published around the world with an appeal for "information about these individuals, even though they are presumed dead".

The Saudi Airlines pilot, Saeed Al-Ghamdi, 25, and Abdulaziz Al-Omari, an engineer from Riyadh, are furious that the hijackers' "personal details" - including name, place, date of birth and occupation - matched their own.

Mr Al-Ghamdi was named as a terrorist on the United Airlines flight that crashed in Pennsylvania - a plane said by some experts to have been heading for the White House.

He first knew that he was on the FBI's list when he was told by a colleague. Speaking from Tunisia, he said: "I was completely shocked. For the past 10 months I have been based in Tunis with 22 other pilots learning to fly an Airbus 320. The FBI provided no evidence of my presumed involvement in the attacks.

"You cannot imagine what it is like to be described as a terrorist - and a dead man - when you are innocent and alive." The airline was angry too. Officials brought Mr Al-Ghamdi back to Saudi Arabia last week for a 10-day holiday to avoid arrest or interrogation.

An official said: "We are consulting lawyers about what action to take to protect the reputation of our pilots." Mr Al-Ghamdi faced further embarrassment when CNN, the American television network, flashed a photograph of him around the world, naming him as a hijack suspect.

The FBI had published his personal details but with a photograph of somebody else, presumably a hijacker who had "stolen" his identity. CNN, however, showed a picture of the real Mr Al-Ghamdi.

He said that CNN had probably got the picture from the Flight Safety flying school he attended in Florida. CNN has since broadcast a clarification saying that the photograph may not be that of the accused.

Mr Al-Omari, who was accused of hijacking the American Airlines plane that smashed into the the World Trade Centre's north tower, said that he was at his desk at the Saudi telecommunications authority in Riyadh when the attacks took place.

He said: "I couldn't believe it when the FBI put me on their list. They gave my name and my date of birth, but I am not a suicide bomber. I am here. I am alive. I have no idea how to fly a plane. I had nothing to do with this."

Mr Al-Omari said his passport was stolen when his apartment in Denver, Colorado, was burgled in 1995. He had been studying engineering at Denver University since 1993. He was given a new passport in Riyadh on December 31, 1995 and returned to America to resume his studies in January 1996. After graduating last year he returned to Riyadh to join the electricity authority and later moved to the telecommunications authority.

The other two men accused of being terrorists are Salem Al-Hamzi and Ahmed Al-Nami. Mr Al-Hamzi is 26 and had just returned to work at a petrochemical complex in the industrial eastern city of Yanbou after a holiday in Saudi Arabia when the hijackers struck. He was accused of hijacking the American Airlines Flight 77 that hit the Pentagon.

He said: "I have never been to the United States and have not been out of Saudi Arabia in the past two years." The FBI described him as 21 and said that his possible residences were Fort Lee or Wayne, both in New Jersey.

Mr Al-Nami, 33, from Riyadh, an administrative supervisor with Saudi Arabian Airlines, said that he was in Riyadh when the terrorists struck.

He said: "I'm still alive, as you can see. I was shocked to see my name mentioned by the American Justice Department. I had never even heard of Pennsylvania where the plane I was supposed to have hijacked."

He had never lost his passport and found it "very worrying" that his identity appeared to have been "stolen" and published by the FBI without any checks. The FBI had said his "possible residence" was Delray Beach in Florida.

Last night the FBI admitted that there was some doubt about the identities of some of the suspects. A spokesman said: "The identification process has been complicated by the fact that many Arabic family names are similar. It is also possible that the hijackers used false identities."

The spokesman declined to say whether the FBI would apologise but added: "If we have made mistakes then obviously that would be regrettable but this is a big and complicated investigation."

When the list was published Robert Mueller, the FBI director, said that it was "fairly confident" that the names were not aliases.

3. Sounds reasonable.....

Anyways - the junk you're quoting was from Sept 23, 2001. Much has been learned since then.

Read about it here and follow the links (source) for the story on all the alleged 9 alive hijackers - find out the truth - it was mistaken identity...

http://www.loosechangeguide.com/lcg5.html#Initial ID confusion

So what about the hijackers?
-The Saudi government admits that 15 were their citizens and that their families were notified of the deaths. Source

On September 14th, 2001, the Department of Justice released the names of the alleged 19 hijackers. But on September 23rd, the BBC reported that Waleed Al Shehri was alive and well in Casablanca, Morrocco.
-The article is from Sept. 23, 2001. The creators of "Loose Change Second Edition," which was made in 2005, choose to ignore information learned since then.

This appears to be a case of mistaken identity. A different Waleed was brother of Wail (below). His family says he disappeared before 9/11. There is no evidence that he's alive. Source

They also tracked down Abdulaziz Alomari, who is an engineer with Saudi Telecoms, and lost his passport while studying in Denver.
-Same name, different birthdates. Source

In the same article, FBI Director Robert Mueller admitted that "the identity of several of the hijackers is in doubt."
That was true as of Sept 23, 2001.
- You really have trouble getting past September of '01, don't you? Well, that explains a lot. You don't understand that "investigations" involve hard work and real research in the real world. That takes time. Since September, 2001, much has been learned.

"The FBI has resolved questions about the identities of the 19 hijackers involved in the Sept. 11 attacks and has discovered places outside the United States where the conspiracy was planned, FBI Director Robert Mueller said Friday. Saudi Arabian officials and others have questioned whether some of the hijackers identified by the FBI in the weeks after the attacks used stolen identifications. Mueller said those questions have been answered. "We at this point definitely know the 19 hijackers who were responsible," he said. Source

Mueller's statement to the Joint Intelligence Inquiry Committee in 2002.

Page 3 of this paper shows the connections between the 19 terrorists.

01:11:09
So how many hijackers turned up alive? At least 9 of them.
-False. The hijackers all died. People with the same names as the hijackers are alive. There are 288 people listed in the U.S. phone directory who have my name, and certainly there are more who are children or are unlisted.

Wail M. Alshehri is alive and well. Brother of Waleed above. His family says he disappeared. No evidence that he's alive. Source

Mohand Alshehri is alive in Saudi Arabia. Evidence that it's not just a guy with the same name?

Khalid Almihdhar is a computer programmer in Mecca.
-Almihdhar the hijacker was a known, experienced Islamic militant and Al Qaeda member. Source

Salem Alhazmi works at a chemical plant in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia.
-Alhamzi the hijacker was a known, experienced islamic militant and Al Qaeda member. Source

Saeed Alghamdi is training to be a pilot in Tunis.
-Der Spiegel investigated this particular claim, and found that it appeared to be a case of mistaken identity. Source

Ahmed Alnami is an administrative supervisor for Saudi Airlines.
- Again, that's just a guy with the same name. The hijacker Alnami went missing from his family in December, 2000. Source

We already covered Waleed and Abdulaziz. And last but not least, Mohammed Atta's father claimed to receive a phone call from his son on September 12th.
-However, Atta's father did not say this when he was interviewed on Sept. 19. Atta's father also allegedly praised the 9/11 and 7/7 attacks and said more would follow. There is no proof that Atta is alive. Source

On September 20th and 27th, Mueller admitted on CNN that there is "no legal proof to prove the identities of the hijackers"
-Again, that's in September of 2001. Obviously the investigation had not been completed. Mueller's statement to the Joint Intelligence Inquiry Committee in 2002.

It just goes on and on H......

You are so wrong...

4. Wow... if you actually believe that the US Government doesn't have the capability of faking those pictures, you're even more naive than you seem to be!

Actually, I don't think you believe that; you're just saying it because if you didn't, you would have to admit your argument is fundamentally flawed.

'Conspiracy Folks', as you so quaintly describe them, would actually USE the the release of the pictures to support their argument that the hijackers never existed. That is obvious to anyone who thinks about it for 2 seconds.

Long live Laura's Black Helicopter and the Squid Patrol!!!

RATBOY...still waiting for you to endorse the 'Haroki as paid Disinformation agent of the U.S. Government reporting directly to the Bush daughters' theory.

traderob

Haroki and Nick
all points for trying to help. But the crazies are way beyond the point where any reasoning or evidence could persuade them.

It just has to be studied as a case for insane group behaviour. Many phds in psychology to come out of this.

From DavidIcke.com, it says George Bush is part of a Secret Brotherhood of Lizard Creatures from Outer Space, who have secretly dominated the world for ages and will continue to do so!

!!

This is what the nuts believe - who could ever prove them wrong. Tell them he is a human, show xrays, blood tests.. They would say doctored , or he made it appear that he was human.

6. Yes, it's interesting as a case study. I still struggle to explain it, though. At first I didn't believe that these nutbags actually believed any of the insane theories that they propound here. I figured they were just 'Michigan Militia' types who don't like the government and were trying to stir up some shit. Then I started to realize that there are people who actually believe in this stuff. Now, we all know that there are mentally ill individuals who suffer from delusional thinking and paranoid ideation. The nutbags here, however, often seem rational in other posts.

As you so aptly put it, there are a lot of future Ph.D candidates out there who will find plenty of material in this circus.

In the end, I see it as related to the virulent Anti-Semitism here. These are people whose opportunities have passed them by, losers who failed to 'take the current when it [served]', lost their ventures, and are looking for someone to blame. After all, when the powers that be are capable of this kind of thing, how can anyone expect to win, or to even have a chance at winning?

7. how can you fall for that??? that is absolutely disinfo. no one in the truth movement buys that crap... it is just like the space beams.. that is your side poisoning the well.

i am embarrassed for all of you. please dont fall for this obvious shill stuff.

8. EXCELLENT post Nik - seems like we feel the same way about these guys.

I too, found it hard to believe that they could seriously think the way they do. I honestly believed that the sole reason for it was that they were so anti - Bush/Iraq War that they were willing to tell any amount of lies in order to put doubt into anyone's mind that was willing to listen. A case of the crazy and passionate being able to convince the weaker minds.

But in the end, you nailed it.

These guys are nothing but losers.....

9. It's good to see that the moderators removed the death threats from this thread. It's not surprising that these individuals would threaten to kill someone who doesn't agree with this or that opinion that they hold. These death threats by fortune are pretty pathetic but there's always that chance that we are dealing with one of the zealots who is willing to kill those who disagree with him.

Notice that RATBOY posted recently but totally ignored my requests for him to stand up and endorse the idea that you are a paid disinformation agent working for the US government and that the gov't. is paying people to post on every website on the internet that contains discussion of 9/11? Evidently there are limits to his credulity. Maybe there's hope for him yet?

10. Is that romance in the air..............:D

Awww, how sweet:D

Seriously though, there is little or no rational reason not to have released all available info within 6 months.
They didnt.
Its fortunate, that sheer incompetence and worthless realpolitik isnt that easy to hide.
