You trade ranges WHEN the market is ranging. You trade trends when it is trending. It ranges more than it trends.
Some days it ranges more and bigger and better and longer and harder and more one way than others. And then 20% of the time it just trends. If you watch cnbc they will tell you what kind of a day it is. I'm on the 8/2 cycle. 8 days of range trading then 2 days of trend trading. It usually takes 8 days for it to go out of my range so then I spend two days hoping it will trend the other way.
