  1. Yes, even with AR-15's they were as wimpy as they come. Jail time for them.

They will get jail time for the armed robbery of a few thousands dollars at most.

While these democrat voters did some early Christmas shopping and and got away with $100,000+ worth of watches.
Does not look they were armed.

Guy stayed calm and was reasonable in his negotiation....
A progressive DA might say that the guy stabbed was not a direct threat to the owner....He was clearly only going after the goods.
Can self defense be used when the threat is against property and not a person?

  6. That neck stab was the death blow, I am amazed he survived but have not heard anything yet. I dont think the shopkeeper needed to stab him 7 or 8 times to protect products on the shelf, it is just material objects rather than defending his life but you cna understand why he reacted that way.

las vegas does require permits/licenses for conealed knives so should be interesting.

If the kid dies, the police have a real tough issue on their hands. I dont think they want shopowners brandishing knives and killing shoplifters when the crimes is a misdemeanor. This is why stores tell employees not to confront shoplifters as the interaction can become violent and the employee can die as well as the criminal.

Robbers need to start feeling afraid to hit stores but it is a real fine line...

Talk about a fine line that is WAFER thin...

If the clerk gets off, that sends the message to would-be robbers that if you jump the counter after someone asks you to leave the store, you have a great chance to be fatally stabbed. So they will not do that any longer.

On the other hand, if the clerk is found guilty of homicide, that sends the message that it is OK to rob a store and not face consequences.

  8. What happens if ther clerk believes the guys in the store will rob him so he jumps over and stabs them as they grab something on the shelf.

If a guy comes in and steals a $1.00 candy bar, should the clerk be allowed to pull out a knife and stab them to death. Do you get to kill to defend cheap property ?

What if the clerk was wielding a knife in violation of Las Vegas law on concelaed carry of knives... should shopkeepers be allowed to violate the law simply to defend $50 worth of merchandise?

What if the robber never threatens the employee but simply tries to take something and run? How is it standing your ground or self defense when your ground or personal safety is never threatened. We are not allowed to always assume our life is in danger.

It is never as easy as you all want to make it seem, laws are not created for examples, they are created to regulate or criminalize or prevent behavior. Robbers are already commiting a crime but now you are adding murder to the mix and trying to figure out if we want to unleash employees and store owners on to the public to kill people when cops themselves with training fuck it up.

In this specific case, (and remember Gato, we are speaking of ONLY this case context) the perp jumped the counter. Did you notice the clerk prepping for what he perceived as to what might happen? Before the perp jumped the counter, he was getting the knife anticipating the shitstorm that he thought would follow. And he was correct. The guy jumped the counter, so how is the clerk going to know what this aggressive guy is going to do next? So the clerk defended himself. This case is truly a sticky wicket, man, there is no arguing that.

After the robber jumped the counter he went for the merchandise not the clerk. The clerk went to the robber.
