  1. Welcome :)

Yes, momentum trading is purely based on small yet significant price action. The momentum may either be with the trend or against the trend. A momentum against the trend may lead to trend reversal. Trend traders can use momentum trading strategy as their entry strategy.

On the other hand classical trend trading is based on support & resistance levels, where the focus is on the direction of the price action and not the momentum.

Momentum strategy is multi purpose in nature and can be used as...
    1. Entry strategy for an existing trend strategy.
    2. Entry strategy for an existing reverse trend strategy.
    3. Signal for existing trend or reverse trend if price wont crossover within 60 minutes.
    4. Scalping point.
    5. Stay away zone for range bound trading.

  3. True :)

    Only the strategy is objective.

Trading is subjective, an Art, subject to creativity.

  5. Creativity must not be applied while trading.

Trading is all about perfecting something we have already learnt, with great amount of focus and discipline. This we call as systematic trading.

Creativity is needed while creating a new strategy or fine-tuning an existing one.

  6. I find price action unreliable. One day it works perfectly and another you lose all you gained from the price action. Isn't developed by Casino?? because that's their typical strategy to make money Sir :)

As an academic researcher, I simply use volatility measure, order flow and resistance/support, and almost every day I end up with positive results, and don't lose as much as I did like when I used price action

    but thank you Sir!

  7. I appreciate your efforts in academic research. :)

The difference between paper trading and actual trading is like difference between science and technology. While developing a technology many practical challenges has to be faced and overcome to achieve something very significant.

You will know the depth of the waters only when you put your real money in trading.

  9. Three vital aspects of momentum trading has been fixed:
    1. Momentum pattern : Rally->Wait->Enter
    2. Rally duration : 20 minutes or less
    3. Rally price action for each segment:
    a. Index F & O : 0.18%
    b. Stocks : 1%
    c. Commodities : 0.5%
    d. Forex : 0.12%

Now the exit strategies are open to trader's personal style and preference. :)
