  1. Great. I'll sign up Paul Davies and Michael Denton and some of the other fools who don't agree with you either. We'll sit around and chant "Only Axe knows how to critically think. Only Axe knows how to critically think. He is our teacher."

You still are avoiding my point: you have zero right to insult people of an opposing position when you have absolutely ZERO proof they are wrong.

Your great proof is the Randi contest?? C'mon. This is an example of powerful critical thinking skills??

  2. "Come over here angels and demons while I take your picture. That's right, I've got a million dollars I can win. C'mon over here. Axe won't believe me unless I bend a spoon in front of this camera. Please, guys. Aw, cmon, I'm serious!"

  3. More strawmen from you.
More evidence that you need exactly that course.

Did I ever say that all these people lack critical thinking skills?
    Nope. You fabricated this.

Did I EVER say the Randi contest was proof? No I didnt.
In fact I already stated it is NOT proof.
    You fabricated this as well.

"you have zero right to insult people of an opposing position when you have absolutely ZERO proof they are wrong. "

Once again.... you fail to understand burden of proof.
I do NOT have to prove they are wrong, they must
    prove they are right.

So show us their PROOFs for the supernatural, or admit
    these are only unsupported opinions.

You have dodged this challenge how many times now?

Where's the beef? aka proofs from these guys?

  4. Nice dodge.

What about the numerous other supernatural claims?

Oh wait... are you know claiming that spoon bending
is caused by god angels or demons??? :D

  5. Wrong. If you insult people and tell them that they are silly, fable believers, the burden of proof is on you.

If you don't want to answer the question, that's fine, but then I can only hope you'll discontinue insulting all scientists who disagree with you, Jews, Deists, pantheists, etc. etc.

That's my point and virtually my entire reason for being in this thread...

  6. Wow really?

I was unware of the logical rule that states that the burden of
proof magically SWITCHES when your opponent is offended :D

Your seriously reaching here. This is the ULTIMATE dodge on your part.

    YOU are asserting.
    YOU must provide proof.

If I use silly analogies to show how silly some beliefs
are, and you get offended, then thats your problem.

The challenge stands. Shows us a proof or serious evidence
    of the supernatural.

Show us the proofs these "smart guys" have for the supernatural.

You continue to FAIL to produce these.

  7. I don't want to prove the supernatural. I have never wanted to.

The only reason I bring up the subject is to keep you from insulting other people. But I guess that is too much to ask...

  8. Let's try to go to something a little more constructive that maybe will show you my point.

As I've mentioned, physics has now discovered that the universe is 9+ space dimensions and could easily be 2+ time dimensions This has not been disproven and may in fact be true. If it is true, then consider this: we have a First Cause that is at least 9+ space dimentions and 2+ time dimensions.

Furthermore, this First Cause has the Effect of producing a universe that is tuned perfectly for life. And, more importantly, if this First Cause is 2+ time dimensions, it does not have to be created!

This means that current physics leaves a very real possibility that an uncreated First Cause birthed a highly tuned universe..

Doesn't this sound suspiciously like God? How do we know or measure the intelligence of this First Cause? Why do you care if the First Cause is intelligent or not? Why do you care so much if this First Cause was intelligent/non-intelligent that you would insult and demean other people of other religions?

And, finally, what makes you certain you know that this First Cause that exist is 11+ space/time dimensions is incapable of even the most simple of tasks (except of course to birth an INCREDIBLY COMPLEX universe)?

  9. Let’s review the facts:

    1. The entire globe is covered with billions of people reporting supernatural phenomenon.
    2. The beginning of the universe explodes from a First Cause singularity in 9+ space dimensions with a very real possibility of 2+ time dimensions as well.
    3. Explosions do not lead to order, yet this one settles into a universe that is HIGHLY tuned for advanced life.
    4. The solar system is HIGHLY tuned for advanced life.
    5. Life’s origin baffles science because it appears so suddenly w/o any plausible natural explanation. Many prominent scientists are so shocked that they become open to the idea of deistic, theistic or pantheistic involvement.

Now explain to me again why you need to insult people who follow the above series of events to a different conclusion than you do?

  10. 'Humans could live for hundreds of years'

Scientists say people could live active lives for hundreds of years if humans follow the same biological rules as laboratory worms.

By carefully tweaking genes and hormones, scientists extended the lifespan of the tiny roundworm Caenorhabditis elegans six times. In human terms, the worms stayed healthy and active for 500 years.

The researchers pointed out that the chief mechanism they tampered with - a signalling pathway involving insulin - was common in many species, including mammals.

But many people might find the price of immortality a little high. The worms with the longest lifespans also had their reproductive systems removed.

The life span extensions obtained by US and Portuguese scientists were the longest achieved for any organism.

Writing in the journal Science, the researchers said mutations that inhibit insulin/IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor) signalling can double the life span of C. elegans.

Removing precursor reproductive cells also extended lifespan by 60%. This was not due to sterility, but appeared to be the result of altered hormonal signalling.

Further genetic interference of mutation-carrying worms, plus the removal of their reproductive systems, produced lifespans six times longer than normal.

Both insulin and IGF-1 have similar biological signalling pathways in the body.

Insulin is a hormone with strong metabolic effects. It controls the level at which glucose is broken down, absorbed into the muscle cells and used to provide energy. IGF-1 stimulates cell replication and differentiation, and the synthesis of cellular products.

    ___________________________________________

Earlier today I related a research project spanning 80+ years in large vertebrates that showed unexpected side effects in mutations that were limiting factors in altering the lifespans of the subjects. I thought it was interesting that today the scientists also found the same in worms. It seems like there is a kind of governor or control mechanism built in that limits alteration too much. The other thing not mentioned is the narrowing of the gene base which could be devastating in the event of an environment change and the need for lost genes to allow the adaptation to survive.
