I can't seem to get my point across, so I'll skip it. Again, let's pick a less insulting example and one where I can actually make an intelligent comment. (I remember zip about Zeus.) Let's take the case of Joseph Smith. I don't want to say much about this cuzz I'm not here to bash anyone that's LDS. But if I were LDS, I'd look to see if the claim in the Book of Mormon regarding all the ancient civilizations and advanced culture were really here. In other words, was there any evidence anthropologically and archaeologically to match their writings.
This is NOT insulting in anyway. Zeus was considered a REAL god, that was worshiped by REAL people. You are insulting the ancient greeks by dismissing him so easily In fact, your constant dismisal of him, and the fact that you consider this example as insulting in any way, makes me suspicious of a double standard. Would it be fair of me to simply state that I won't discuss YOUR god, because it is such a silly notion, that I find it insulting to even ponder, and therefore dismiss it outright? peace axeman
Do a simple google search on zeus and greek mythology. Lots of info. The details are really not that important. Also, there is greek mythology which MATCHES actual real world events and artifacts. Should I therefore consider this as evidence of Zeus and the greek gods? I'm sure this is true of the majority of mythological writings. It seems to be common for the authors of mythology to weave elements of truth and history into their stories. Look at modern fiction. It happens all the time. Yet it is still fiction. peace axeman
axeman, what you are refering to is called "ambiguous specificity" nostradamus used it as a technique in his writings. there is an article on this method in the latest issue of skeptical inquirer. bet you are surprised that someone who believes in a creator would read such heretical material. LOL ! best, surfer
Why don't you pick an example of some discovery that could provide some evidence that Zeus was real and we'll to see if we look at it the same way?
an honest question: do you any concern about what may happen to you after death--when their may be no logic, no science, just the spiritual realm ?? best, surfer
