  5. i know someone was going to link this...yeah it makes a nice story, but so what? It was from a small local developer on the outskirts of shanghai, and it had nothing to do with the quality of the building like the brit article stated, what happened was they miscalculated while digging the parking garage underneath on 1 side causing the weight to become unbalanced been so close to the water. It was a sad story 1 worker died.

If anything, notice how the building didnt break apart after falling, and most of the windows remained unbroken too, the company that made the windows became instantly famous because of this, trail by fire?

All you guys do is finding some isolated instance of china being negative, then point and laugh as if somehow American is so much superior, the arrogance is disgusting. I spoke to many chinese, although they lost some respect for americans after the banks collapsed and iraq, none have any contempt towards america nor reservations buying american like we do... Dont you guys feel small having such a narrow minded view.

China lifted close to 1 billion people out of utter poverty in less than a decade, it connected most of the country with modern high speed rails the time it took us to build a fucking airport lightrail train, the entire shanghai cityscape was transformed while we are still struggling to lay the foundation for the freedom tower after close to 10 years and with the historical significance of the greatest recent tragedy for the country, and now they are debating putting a muslin mosque there (wtf)

whether china succeeds or fail, what it has done so far for its people is a miracle. Make fun of it, live in deny, but it doesnt change anything...

  7. I have been 12 times to China.

Don't give me that crap. Chinese lie, cheat and take illegal profit out of Western ideas.

I really hope your economy is going to explode in your face. You deserve no less.

  8. Interesting thread. Having traveled widely I can state unequivocally that China within the next decade will be the worlds largest economy. Chinese assets have another 60% move higher.

It's development thus far has been amazing. Chinese assets are still cheap compared to where they will be in the next decade. Any pull backs should be bought and held. It's too bad the Chinese don't allow non resident laowai to buy stocks or property. Although, as stated above, I would never trust a Chinaman with any of my intellectual property. They're all thieves.

  9. correct, but it does not make you a dime in trading bubbles. Only detailed analysis and knowledge of the particular market afford you a high probability entry, regardless of whether you bet the bubble has more room to go or whether markets continue going down after the bubble popped.

By the way, second tier real estate in Shanghai is anything but in a bubble. Thats why its anything from clear whether even real estate has a lot more room to the upside before it breaks or not.
