6 monitor setup: 3 PCIe Cards on 1 MB?

Discussion in 'Hardware' started by gnome, Apr 2, 2007.

  1. Hi,

I would like to upgrade from my Matrox G450 & G200-Setup to a more timely PCIe solution, since 8 MB video memory isn´t really that much, even for 2d office applications.

I have found several mainboards like the Intel D975XBX (Bad Axe) with 3 PCIe slots, which makes me think/hope that I could use 3 PCIe-Video cards (i.e. this one: MSI NX7600GS-T2D256EH) with a total of 6 DVI-ports which would gíve me a real bump in video performance.

However before I spent quite some money on hardware I would like to know if anybody has already been using a similar setup (maybe for 4 screens with to videocards) and if there are any drawbacks, problems with drivers etc.

    Thanks,

    K

I have 4 monitors on 3 cards. You'll have no problem even with 6 or more monitors.... that's on XP... don't know about Vista.

There is at least one mobo with 4, x16 slots.
