hi there. while searching for a lcd i came across this one 20" lcd but with 500:1 contrast. is this going to look like crap do you think? any comments would be appreciated http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0926INGFS10076464&catid=22559&logon=&langid=EN
Newegg buyers give it good reviews. Your video card needs to be able to display the monitors native @ 1400x1050.
500:1 contrast ratio should be more than adequate for trading / charting apps. However, this monitor's max resolution is subpar for its size (which might explain the low, for BB, $230 sale price out the door). Generally, you want 1600 x 1200 in a 20" LCD - a large, noticeable step up from the 19" standard of 1280 x 1024 - rather than the "in-between" 1400 x 1050. If, however, you know that you don't want / need 1600 x 1200, then a 19" would probably be a better option, for less.
Saw this at MicroCenter this past weekend for the same price as Newegg, $299 AR... a very good price for this monitor.
thanks alot for the info. i wasnt sure about resolution.i guess thats why its cheap(er) than others. i'll have to check the video card also.thanks
