I just read that list as well and the funny thing is a couple of months ago there was a blurb on TV about how one of those top three was the depression capitol or "land of low expectations". They said the long dark winters contributed to high % of drinking, suicides etc. However people there expect and are satisfied with an average standard of living (which is good) and don't aspire to hollywood wealth. I was surprised at seeing Finland on the list. I recall hearing a few years back about Finland having a high suicide rate. Just to state the obvious: moving to one of these countries on the top 10 list won't make you happy if you aren't already. Happiness comes from within, through your own choices. Sorry to sound so "new age" since I'm not really like that. But it's true. And yes, you *can* be happy in the US, in spite of what the Euro's on ET might think.

I agree with Steve..I've always wondered why people chose to live in what I think is a crappy place. Usually its family. Family is such a strong support system....financial, emotional, not to mention free babysitting. People who set out and move away are usually young with few family ties.
two questions: 1. what do people do for fun? i noticed the cities are very small; i wonder if there is any life except tending to your farm 2. what's the crime rate there in the average places, not best places. i don't care about crime in the best places because it's low no matter what country you're in
