5% of black men in prison

  1. This is a pet peeve of mine. I slam the phone down everytime MAAD calls begging money. I get it that people who lose loved ones to drunk drivers are upset, and I also get it that it is the easiest thing inthe world for a politician to stand up against drunk driving. I mean, who is infavor of it?

But the reality is they have lowered the definition of drunk driving to where if you have a couple of beers, you are on the borderline. Some places have zero tolerance. If you have had anything they will arrest you.

The fact is, accidents are not being caused by people who go out to dinner and have a cocktail and a glass of wine, then drive hoime, that is, if they don't get stopped at some checkpoint.

From what I see, these horrible accidents are usually teens out at 3AM ( what's with parents anyway?), habitual drunks who have been arrested time after time and let off or illegals with no insurance. Crack down on those groups, fine, but let the rest of us go out to dinner without worrying about having a DUI.

  2. The old prohibition argument is specious. There's no comparison between wine, beer and scotch and crack, meth, heroin, etc. Drugs are still illegal in Portugal but after 2001 it became an administrative offense to possess *small* amounts as opposed to a criminal one so of course "crime" decreased. But I will agree that their drug policies beat ours. Our "war on drugs" has failed because it's a product of our government, which fouls up almost everything it touches. A better model would be Sweden's which, unlike Portugal's, has lowered drug use AND, unlike ours, has low prison rates as well.

  3. If you have a problem with one of my posts in another thread that is where you should address it.

well said, it's all about power at the expense of the ordinarily law abiding citizen.

2 groups make big money on drugs being illegal law enforcement and black market providers :everybody else loses .

  7. It isn't going to happen govt wants more lawbreakers for ex:

In my town in front of the mayors house the speed limit was 25.
well people were not obeying the law so they dropped the speed limit to 15 still people did not obey the law. so they put in speed bumps, still people didn't obey the law. finally they dropped the posted speed limit to 5mph. I mean crap I was breaking the speed limit whilst jogging for crying out loud.

Oh btw if you get caught going 15mph over the limit there are special penalties. So go what once was the legal speed limit now, and you risk losing your driving license.
