Alright guys, decent day again today and could have been a lot better if I wasn't so busy at work.

Profit of just over £1000 for the day bringing my balance to £10,555.

Took 87 pips on EUR/USD at £5/pip and the rest was made on ftse 100.

Made a few mistakes today but still pleased with the result for the week of +£5,555.

  2. Well done mate.. ;)

Whats your other job though that makes you so rich you can afford to take those risks and lose all that??  lol

I can't say i didnt have a good day today, wokeup at 6.50am cos slept downstairs on my sofa to be next to laptop.. lol

The chinese hadn't got oil high enough for me though, so i passed in and out of sleep for till about 10.

Then i started my selling off the majour resistance levels, my enteries were all good, never went more than 26ticks offside,
but my exits were the true beauty of the day!!
    :D :p lol

But since 3/3.30pm the market just hasn't been tradeable at all.

We had an extremely unusual quietness today for a start, with oil trading in such a tight range all day of barely $1!!

And then with the dollar weaking, especially that 300+ agaisnt the gbp, oil just isn't safe enough to short, especially with ike coming on weekend.

I was gna short around the 102 at 4pm level, looking for the 101.26/32 as target where strong support was, but i just couldn't short against the dollar.

And then i realsied i wasn't trading, but was about to be traded, because as i scaled out to my 10/15min chart i saw strong support was building at the 101.70 area.

So finsihed up about 130ticks profit for the day.
Not amazing, but not bad, especially with a 12ticks spread each trade.

    And its £157 profit.

Gna drop a £1 tick short at 103.52 though, to catch any evening/overnight action.

What everyone else thought of oil today though???

  3. Oooooh ive just counted up for the week,
and even after that horrific £345 loss on the inventory number + the accidental close of a sell trade in £176 loss on that same day...

I still made £455 clear profit this week!! :D :D

(I made about 50 trades, so had even paid over £600 in spread cost too) :p

So keeping with the spirit of my journal, i did hit the 5% average profit per day still for this week.. hehe :D

well done mate, I think you have better reasons behind your trading than I do. I trade purely on price action and instinct.

Yesterday I was going to make a point about having an alarm clock and making sure you are alert by the open.

I really don't have all that much money but I work as a financial analyst for a company with a great I.T policy :D

decent enough money as I am only part qualified (40k a year after benefits).

I'd rather not lose the 5k but I wanted to go all out and whilst the odds are not great, if I succeed then I can turn my 5k into Porsche 911 RS.

edit: I would still have a look around and see if you can get better spreads? I don't know if its possible but considering the number of trades you do per day, I wonder if you may be able to negotiate something slightly more favourable with tradindex?

nice. I seem to recall that you also use ABN Amro? I've only recently started using them for my 'real' money account. Have you had any problems with them?

I've only been with them myself for about 2 months, I think.

I haven't really had any problems, i must say. I have had a few disconnections but that seems to have nearly totally subsided sinced I upgraded to a new PC last week. Maybe my old one couldn't deal with running that, aswell as metatrader, about 8 IE windows and my excel trading system in the background!

Your results have been great yourself, so far.
You should start your own journal.

What timeframe do you trade off / techniques do you employ?

I would but I don't really have a strategy that I stick to. I've always found that I do better without strict rules. The other thing being that I work a full time job, I am studying (CIMA strategic argh...) etc etc.

If my lucky streak continues then I may well start a journal, I'm sure a spectacular blow up would be interesting to read about! :D

I trade off of the 15min time frame but obviously analyse the daily, 3 hourly and hourly. Other than that I look for S/R levels.

I try to stick to the long term trend but look for small, fast movements.

nice one. Very risky in my opinion holding over the weekend considering the potential for movement either way, glad it paid off for you! You can take the day off now
