475 Trader Status , no longer active. Is 'suspension' automatic?

    You need a CPA...The problem is they are super busy at this time. Did you file an extension?? I've dealt with carry over losses for years (farmer/rentals...You hide your income). I think you may have lost all carry over for years to come by not filing.

    My thoughts are see a CPA after tax season...File an extension and pay estimates.

    My brother passed away and I was the executor of his estate. He didn't file taxes for about 12 years. Our CPA went to the IRS to straighten out the mess. My brother didn't have to pay tax...Below a certain threshold the government just does tax estimation. My brother traded stocks and options. The IRS didn't care...They want to go after whales not minnows. The CPA filed back tax forms for 7 years as best he could. We even got a tax credit for grocery assistance in Idaho!!

    I just am thinking (in the back of my head), if you do not file in the year it is due (plus extensions) you CAN NOT claim carryover losses.

    Prove me wrong...
