Totally. A national sales tax in lieu of an income tax would be outstanding. But most states would keep their income tax at the state level, and you're right - democrats would eventually add the income tax back in. They've never met a tax they didn't like.
I would take a national sales tax over an income tax any day, however not some ludacris percent. But lete be real a national sales tax will never happen either. Everything about these possible tax changes is nothing but dribble...not going to happen anytime soon.
The article hypothesizes ways to raise funds to pay for Medicare for all... IT DOES NOT say a Dem plan or proposal is to have a 42% sales tax.... fake news!
For the record what I am talking about below is in general and not related to these (likely fabricated) tax numbers OP's article talks about. I don't think anyone is attacking small business with these VAT-style taxes. The people attacking small business are the Waltons (which a phenomenon of Walmart moving in and small business dying bears their namesake), Bezos (similar case), and other mega-billionaire retailers that drive small business into extinction. The acquire-and-kill policy technocrats have taken for SMBs in that space is no different. It is possible for billionaires to buy out and kill innovation strictly through the amount of wealth they hold. This isn't conducive to good capitalism, but for some reason I'm called a socialist for being against billionaires. The people who are against VAT style taxes, are also against inheritance taxes. They don't see a difference between value producers and business destroyers - and they are happy with most of the upper crust being the result of inheritance rather than personal value. They also don't see a raise on taxes for people who pay the least of all citizens as necessary. It's the head-in-the-sand approach the RNC has turned into an art form. Non-prepared goods (e.g. food, but not cooked) is never taxed as far as I know. I've never heard of clothing being tax free though.
Maybe we should figure out why healthcare is so expensive in the first place. I have a few ideas on places to start.
When you can walk in and pay cash for a test or procedure, at 25% of what your Insurance Company will pay, yes there’s a problem.
This is not correct... richest in the WORLD?! Where is Putin who's net worth is over $100-200 Billion.
