  3. I frankly wasn't sure what to make of 40, but after reading this post it seems so obvious... I'm almost ashamed that I didn't catch on earlier.

Tampa masterfully demonstrates how a little sarcasm/humor can be brutally effective at revealing the core truth of an issue.

    Great post Tampa... Thanks!

40yrold may be perfectly legitimate. But quite a few people felt like chumps after being sucked into whatever he was spinning, then left waiting for the other shoe to drop while he hopped the last stage out of town. And he ought to be made aware of that. If nothing else, this kind of behavior helps to account for the less-than-warm welcome which so many people receive when they try to share their strategies.

Today, I read through the 35 pages of your posts made last year. You created a very good thread.

Your decision to not post to ET when you started to trade real money was probably wise. However, I hope you can share some of your lessons learned over the past months if you have time. What would have have NOT done if you were starting with real money again?

    Well done and best wishes!!!

  6. 40,

I wonder if you could tell us how the money management aspect of your system worked out. I don't recall all the details but I believe you had a logic for increasing size in drawdowns and found in backtesting it was the key to your profitability.

  7. A nice ending?

What, is he closing up shop?

The game's hardly over just yet now, is it.

The guy increases trade size during drawdowns. No wonder he's been making money so far. As much as such behavior is generally advised against -- ie, to those who want to stay in the game over the long term -- the strategy, over shorter periods of time, is (probably) quite likely to result in positive returns. In the long run, however, it's just a matter of time until his number's called.

  9. If you reread his thread you'll see he uses an anti-martingale strategy where he increases size when he is winning. Quite the opposite of upping size on a drawdown.

I could have sworn he used a martingale system. In his third post on his journal thread is this:

Maybe I was misinterpreting his strategy, or else he claimed it was a martingale strategy but it wasn't.
