last post, you are wasting your time with adapters on an old laptop, perhaps dual monitors with display port, but VGA... futile endeavor
Laptop may have 1 additional external monitor. For more You will need an external video card which would support additional monitors see you tube video at: read this article http://www.techradar.com/us/news/co...e-complete-guide-to-multiple-monitors-1074313
Easy, but I would not bother, as laptops can not handle heat that good, so always best to use a PC for trading. I will look up a few part numbers later, as I just set up this 3 monitor layout in my garage today, as it is raining outside. The PC motherboard has a VGA, DVI and HDMI outputs. Forget about VGA, crap. One monitor to DVI, one monitor to HDMI via DVI to HDMI cable. Third monitor to Belkin Display Link unit, which works from USB 3 port (blue one) on motherboard, and gives one DVI and one Display Port outputs - so I can add another monitor if I want via Display Port to DVI adapter, which I have. Dell do a unit that has one DVI in, and 4 DVI out. I have 2 of them, but not here, they are in another location, but I will get the part no. for you. J_S
Here is Belkin details, it is actually for a laptop, I am now using it with a spare PC in my garage. Pics might be bit big as uploaded from phone. J_S
I was mistaken, the dell unit has 3 x DVI outputs, but you need a display port output to feed it, which your laptop does not have. http://www.mrsparepartsonline.com/a...mh11-multi-hub-display-monitor-3-ports-64xhk/ As per other posters, I would forget about using a laptop for any more then 1 extra monitor, not worth it, and the excess heat will reduce the life of the laptop motherboard. If you use IB TWS, then you will find the java very slow on a laptop, you really want 16GB ram and SSD to prevent lag. I only use the laptop now for trading if stuck, all trades are done on PC as there is no sense in introducing more risk into your trading. I have even set up the PC in the garage for when I am working in the garden! Build a small Win10 PC with mini ITX - easy, cheap and reliable, which is what you want. This is the case I used, very good and not too big. J_S
Removed the Belkin unit, put in a single graphics card, and now can get 5 monitors working - 3 on card and 2 on motherboard. J_S
Four or six monitors for laptop is really way too much for everything but something will be really done here anyway. I see advices to buy desktop but in the same time to buy to them some PCI-E slots with what ? Video cards for 6 monitors each or what ?
