qwerty11: It is not as good now. I'm pretty sure the warning happens 2 business days after now (around 11 AM EST). 75% and 90% warnings. I asked IBKR to give us something live and they said they would but that was a couple years ago....
Thanks. That is indeed better than nothing but the best thing would be a "live counter" somewhere in Account Management...
Note that the situation might have become less dire compared to a few years ago. For instance, I see that some exchanges offer a similar rebate for PROs. Example: https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/accounts/fees/NASDAQOMoptfee.php
not sure. when I have been a pro (about 4 times) - I have not gotten close to the 75% mark. My guess is that you would not receive the message.
From the KB: "Orders submitted on behalf of Professional clients are treated the same as those of broker-dealers for purposes of execution priority and fees." An example of the fee schedule of an exchange: https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/accounts/fees/NASDAQOMoptfee.php I assumed you get the Professional fees if you have become a "390 professional". But from the KB this seems not to be the case. Or is this an error in the KB?
you would pay professional fees. Perhaps that was written when Pro fees were the same as BD fees. btw - not sure what you are getting to with these questions but the "increase" in fees is NOT the issue with becoming a Pro. It is the fact that your orders are treated differently by the marketplace (not your broker). Basically, the liquidity providers will ignore your orders and your fills will be affected negatively. Depending on your type of trading, this can be a major issue. That is all what I will say on this topic. good luck
Thanks again (although you won't reply anymore on this topic). Why I asked this is (the question was not specifically directed to you, but of course I appreciate your reply): In the KB is something mentioned that I suspect is wrong FSU mentioned before in this topic (he also seems to have a lot of experience with this): "They downside of this tag is you will pay extra exchange fees, which can be substantial. Your fill quality will also suffer." But the first part doesn't apply (anymore?) if there are some exchanges with high Pro rebates. Also note that for some strategies the fees might be more of an issue than in your experience.
