New York City has almost as many people as the bottom 10 states combined. It's hard to imagine the founding fathers wanting a single population center to have as much voting power as one fifth of our entire country. The EC is there for a good reason.

The electoral college is a great institution. It creates balance to prevent one group of people (whether they be a minority or a majority) from having complete control.

Trump winning the election is a travesty but that doesn’t mean the electoral college is bad, it means that republicans are more excited by a guy with an “(R)” by their name than what they stood and currently stand for.

Not everything the founders fathers came up stands the test of time.

Red vote in a red state or blue voter in a blue state is basically a meaningless vote.

Swing states which are very few these days control everything.

If "every vote counts" than every vote should count. They don't.

And if EC is still the way to go why does Cali have more electoral voters than R.Island?

Again because land nonsensically counts more than people.

It’s a balance of population and states. California has 50-x electors of which only two are because of its statehood. WY has three which is essentially all because of statehood. WY has some say in the government, even if it’s a lot less than CA (which rightfully should have more say).

True, the effect is that some votes have greater impact, but no election system is perfect.

Just because you don’t like the outcome of the 2016 election doesn’t mean the system is flawed.

A popular vote election system is far more perfect

    More like an imbalance.

And LMAO it has nuuuuuuuuuuthing to do with the last election.

It has everything to do with ALL future elections - whether or not Dump is involved.

    EC sux. It's nonsensical.
