You got that right. Of course, when I bought my license years ago, it was a grand. Inflation I guess, hehe
I wouldn't touch those lifetime licenses even if I am Warren Buffet. I would rather burn my money than to have those licenses that render you permanently surrendering your right to vote with your wallet and bind you forever to their unreliable and inferior service. There is a reason why they are on sale and there is a reason why people would rather stick with periodic subscriptions that they can cancel at any time. You have no idea how many people who have bought those lifetime licenses are re-selling them at a deep discount and they have no takers.
Personally I think Ninjatrader charts are outstanding, and I've tried many. What I like best is they're very clear, fast and easy to use.
If you lease a license it ain’t that long before you pay more than for a lifetime license. Also, a lifetime license gives you better rates. There is also the OrderFlow suite, but I don’t know if that’s of value as I have not tried it yet.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I remember, the lifetime license only applies to the version of NT you bought. Once they totally revamp the program with a new version, you're out of luck. Its just like Windows. You buy Windows 7 and get all the free upgrades for it, and can use it for a "lifetime", but at some points, Windows 10 comes out, they stop updates for Windows 7, and you better upgrade if you want to stay current. With trading software, you always need updates. So its not like you can stay on an old version for long. So you will end up buying a lifetime license for version 7, then 8, and 9, and so on.
As it is now - a lifetime license works for both NT7 and NT8. You can even run NT7 and 8 simultaneously using the same license key. This would also be true if you bought a lifetime license back in the day on NT7. NT9 should be many years into the future. And I would expect that version to work with a lifetime license too, although I obviously can't know that for certain.
Yup and I am glad I remained as a sim trader. I only made the mistake of buying ONE quarterly subscription and that was one of the worst purchases that I have ever made in my whole life. But because it was just a periodic subscription, I had the choice of staying away after it expired unlike if it was a lifetime license, I would be stuck forever with s***.
