I have a surge protector, a UPS, and keep valuable data on CD-RW's I burn periodically. As for the rest of the system, it is all replaceable with a credit card and about 4 hrs work, so I don't sweat it too much.
Just as a thought, you might not want to BURN CD-RW's. If you do, reuse just might be a problem. You generally BURN CD-R's. The CD-RW's are usually just written to so that they can be erased and reused. Yes, you can BURN them also but in doing so you defeat the "W" capability.
