Always this way. I exit and the trade goes the way I wanted. Sheesh!
Did some scalping today with NG futures. Feeling okay going forward. I think I can get my winning streak back. I was super laid back over the weekend because of the big loss last week. Lived on 2 days of pizza from dominos.
Tried to trade stocks today but it says im under PDT rule when my acct is over 25K. Why is this? I did have 2 positions in NG so available funds for stocks were 20K. Is this why? I feel like total amount is over 25K so it shouldnt matter. Iono.. if I see a good entry tomorrow Ill try trading stocks again and see if it works.

If anyone have recommendations on stocks I should follow, please let me know! I'm looking for something that has lots of volume, frequent volatility average of 2-3% each day, stock price above $20 preferable and prices not too high. I lost my old watch list.

Also what's a good brokerage watchlist tool? For example, I used to use Scottrade before for my watchlist and it gave me realtime quotes and the template just worked for me. I don't like Interactive Brokers watchlist setup, I tried Etrade today and it seemed trash (needed $1000 balance for realtime quotes), I tried logging into TDAmeritrade but I couldn't verify my info...they said try again after 72 hours.

You can customise IB watchlist setup.

You really are all-over the place. You have not settled on a broker, you are trying to trade both futures and stocks in same account...You don't even understand the PDT rule, and you say you had been trading stocks since 2010, up until 3 years ago.

If I didn't know any better, you are reeking of desperation. Seems like you are in a hurry.

Could be just the Pandemic Blues.

People are desperate to get out and do stupid stuff that sabotages their quality of life for some unrealistic dream that's no longer there because of the Pandemic.

Is there anything I'm not aware of on why it's a problem to trade both futures and stocks in the same account?

I generally know the PDT rule but I didn't study it in depth. That's why I ask questions. If you know the answer to my question, why don't you answer it?

I've been using IB for the longest time and don't plan on making a switch anytime soon. Why does it seem like I hadn't settled on a broker?

Why does all this seem like I'm desperate and in a hurry?

You don't like the IB watchlist setup? I missed that bit. All I saw was you trying some other brokers.

The answer to the PDT question is, with IBKR, you are at their mercy when it comes to futures. They are the worst future broker ever. So yeah, the fact that you had some God-awful margin requirement on your NG positions is why you fell below the $25K PDT requirement. It's not what you "feel" is right, but what their risk-management system tells THEM what they think is right.

As for the general question of trading futures and stocks in the same account? Ever hear of something called schizophrenia? If you can master it, more power to ya'.

  8. Hi, have you ever considered adding a stop loss for the day? So, trading is very very stressful. I need to be in a controlled environment where I just focus on nothing but trading. What's the R:R on this strategy. It looks like some sort of momentum strategy, are you reading the order book, or using TA? How big is that $3k loss relative to the account balance, is it more then 1%? Maybe trim your size until you're trading better..... it might help with coping with the loss? Do you know about the Kelly Criterion?

Also is that doubling your position like doubling down? Oh God why does this guy sound like he's gambling. I mean if your going to gamble either go to Vegas and get drunk and have fun while you lose money or, do it smartly, and not lose so much, all at once. Everyone can have a bad month bad year but 8 years. Idk man. I'm on year 1 so I'm still kind of fresh so take what I say with a grain of rice. I'm cheering for you.

  9. Yeah I just checked the first post and 3k is like 10% of your account man. Cut your risk by 10, and only risk 1% or less even that may be too much. Try not to lose more then $300 a day $600 if you really want to push it, and when you hit that loss limit you quit.

Tried stocks. So it was because my capital was less than $20K that I couldn't daytrade even though my total capital was over 25K. When I did just stocks, the orders went in just fine. Shorted MRNA for a quick gain. Played around with NG with 2 contracts for the rest of the gain.

Made a new stock watchlist and it brought back nostalgia seeing all the percentages move right when the market opened and throughout the way. Trading just excites me.

I was able to customize the IB watchlist to make it work for me. I think I'll be just using the IB watchlist. Thanks @cesfx .
