I have had an Acer 24" (AL2423W) for a little over 1 year now. Overall the monitor is good for trading, but... 1) I find that it runs pretty hot and gives off a lot of heat. I have had to turn down the brightness quite a bit to cut down on the heat. 2) I am starting to have problems with it. From a cold startup the image is all messed up, it corrects after about 2 minutes. This started about 2 weeks ago, correcting after about 10 seconds and has gradually gotten worse. I will be sending it in for warranty repair next week. I bought two other 24" Samsung 245BWs about 1 month ago. They run a bit cooler and the color contrasts are much better overall. Great for trading.
I have one at home that I use for trading in the mornings. I got that one at Micro Center about 6 months ago after rebate for $326. I have one at work where I work afternoons and evenings. That one I have used for almost 3 years and have had no problems with it. Which led me to buy the one for home. There are better monitors out there but for the money I think they are do the job.
FWIW... With its red text, I've always found the ET home page to be one of the most difficult to display with good contrast. My 24", Planar PX2411W, displays it the best of any of the 20 or so LCD's I've had. Colors and viewing angle are excellent, too. It has an S-IPS panel, so it's not the cheapest... about $579.
OfficeMax has the Soyo 24'. It was on sale last week for 279.99, with a 30 internet coupon...249.99 Now have 5, no complaints.
