I think it's important to differentiate between fabricated wish-they-were scandals and the real thing. Some of you gents can't quite seem to tell them apart.
Lets take the horrors of his time at Bain. Though those LBO's that did put people out of work, some jobs were created. It's a wash job wise and yes, he and the gang and Bain made a boatload of money. It's how the system works and I don't hold Romney responsible for that. So why was that such a BIG deal to the left? It's not like he looked the other way while the mortgage industry was collapsing as most all of congress did. He wasn't rating subprime bonds as AAA while default rates were going up. He didn't participate in the collusion between banks and the rating agencies while the banks unloaded all that shit around the world. And he hasn't been the one who has failed to prosecute a single one of the thousands of criminals who committed that fraud. Let me know when Greenspan, Paulson, most of congress, multiple bankers, mortgage brokers, SEC officials, rating agency hacks and the rest of the financial crisis gang are swinging from a rope, and then we'll talk about how evil Romney was at Bain.
True. But that's not how he presented his qualifications for the purposes of his candidacy. He put a fanciful spin (i.e., BS) on what he did when he ran for prez. Not unlike Trump.
Fact; Trump would have made more money investing in the market. He's a mediocre business man, fact; a pathological liar and fact; a huge tool.
That is exactly, precisely the problem with him. You nailed it. Thanks to his father's money and bailouts, he has never answered to anyone, and now presents himself as a savior of the common man. He is the very last - the very last - person in the country who gives 2 shits about service to his country. I am old enough - and lived in the Northeast at the time - to remember him pre-reality TV, when he was literally a joke among business leaders. A multiple business failure and casino owner who reportedly cheated publicly on his wives. And puleeze, spare me the "Is Hillary Better?" response. We're talking Trump here, and he is a walking disaster of a candidate. Although, I will say, I am pulling for him to secure the GOP nomination. Fastest way to a democratic congress. Really, can you imagine trying to defend a contested seat with Donald J. Trump as the head of your party? LOL!
Whatever you see in Trump, most conservatives don't. He's got a checkered history. So what? So do all the candidates. We need the border closed and factories back home. That simple. Hillary won't. Bernie can't. Ted might. Donald will.
