Trafalgar and these other right-leaning polling firms strongly predicted a red wave. There was no red wave.

Florida in 2020 was Trafalagar’s claim to recent fame because Florida was missed by so many pollsters in that cycle. They got it right by estimating higher republican vote percentages than most other pollsters. However, Florida seems to have undergone a paradigm shift from toss up to solid Republican very quickly and Trafalgar seems to have benefited from being an R leaning pollster in the right place at the right time.

Punchbowl News: “To give a sense of how much of a shock this was to the Washington political establishment, consider this – House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s team and allies were spread across two downtown hotels, ready to celebrate victory and their new majority. The DCCC had no public event or party scheduled.”

“But McCarthy’s Election Night bash ended up as more of a ghost town than celebratory party. For hours, dozens of GOP staffers milled around an open bar, nervously sipping drinks while watching Fox News. Next door in the ballroom, a stage emblazoned with ‘TAKE BACK THE HOUSE’ remained empty.”

    Politico: McCarthy’s victory party fizzles.

I kinda agree with the need for introspection. But I'm not sure you guys are going to like it when (if) the GOP does this and comes out with the only plausible plan. They might just figure out that rallying behind DeSantis and the like is the new way forward, and that will mean less compromising from the GOP long term. Oh sure, it will get rid of Trump (which many of us on the right also want) but its going to yield very similar results - just more concise and well spoken in fashion.

Amazing really that so many Americans still can't see what a disaster the Republican party is. Even in the midst of an economic low point they managed to fk it up royally. Even if one decides the Democratic party isn't much better, they are clearly better, and we'll never know what was possible as the Republicans and a couple of rogue Governors blocked almost every motion for 2 years.

And in case some of you slugs haven't figured it out yet, attacking women's right to a safe legal abortion and supporting absolute whack job politicians isn't going to help your cause. Nor is nominating corrupt fascist guys like Trump.
